Magic Zach
The blend between terrain underwater, including rivers, looks very odd. There are holes underwater that are very visible, at all altitudes. This is just my observation, but it appears that the water in Normandy is very clear! Meanwhile the water on the Caucasus cannot be seen into. While it may not look as nice on the surface, I believe that making the color of the water more solid would do very well at hiding these holes in the underwater terrain (or the terrain entirely). I've included screenshots to better show what I mean... Merry Xmas! twistking
that looks quite bad. making the water more opaque might help, but the proper thing to fix it, would be correcting and smoothing out the topology. Magic Zach
that looks quite bad. making the water more opaque might help, but the proper thing to fix it, would be correcting and smoothing out the topology.I think the solution found on Caucasus would have a cleaner overall result. Reason being the harbors. The terrain drop is very visible from above water, which wouldn't be possible to see by eye down 100ft of sea water. Emmy
It’s river water texture meeting ocean water texture. Saw it reported elsewhere and acknowledged as something that needs “smoothing” [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.476vfightergroup.com/content.php High Quality Aviation Photography For Personal Enjoyment And Editorial Use. www.crosswindimages.com
Magic Zach
It’s river water texture meeting ocean water texture. Saw it reported elsewhere and acknowledged as something that needs “smoothing”I don't think so. I've provided screenshots that show the issue, and this does not look like a texture problem of the water. As you should see, the model of the map underwater is clearly seen through an excess of 100ft of depth. That in itself is a whole other problem rather separate of the holes in the underwater terrain model. This rather deserves a different thread for itself Hardware: T-50 Mongoose, VKB STECS, Saitek 3 Throttle Quadrant, Homemade 32-function Leo Bodnar Button Box, MFG Crosswind Pedals Oculus Rift S System Specs: MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS, RTX 3090, Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 32GB DDR4-3200, Samsung 860 EVO, Samsung 970 EVO 250GB Modules: AH-64D, Ka-50, Mi-8MTV2, F-16C, F-15E, F/A-18C, F-14B, F-5E, P-51D, Spitfire Mk LF Mk. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted December 23, 2019 ED Team Share Posted December 23, 2019 (edited) When the water is flat calm it is easier to see, increasing the wind a little will produce waves that can help with the water. Can you let me know your dcs settings, are you using lower settings for the sea? thanks Edited December 23, 2019 by BIGNEWY Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Magic Zach
When the water is flat calm it is easier to see, increasing the wind a little will produce waves that can help with the water. Can you let me know your dcs settings, are you using lower settings for the sea? thanksSorry for the late response! Yes, my water settings are on low. But, to walk back on myself, on low settings I actually CAN see the sea floor on the Caucasus map. I got VR roughly when Normandy updated, and I also lowered my graphic settings. I must have confused my change with the Normandy map in general. However, yes. The rivers and estuaries in Normandy have no sea floor, and appear as a different color from high altitudes, like in the pictures I posted (and can be seen on the F-10 map as well). My water settings are at LOW Hardware: T-50 Mongoose, VKB STECS, Saitek 3 Throttle Quadrant, Homemade 32-function Leo Bodnar Button Box, MFG Crosswind Pedals Oculus Rift S System Specs: MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS, RTX 3090, Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 32GB DDR4-3200, Samsung 860 EVO, Samsung 970 EVO 250GB Modules: AH-64D, Ka-50, Mi-8MTV2, F-16C, F-15E, F/A-18C, F-14B, F-5E, P-51D, Spitfire Mk LF Mk.
