CPUs and DCS CPU Usage

Recommended Posts

Try to disable HT. With my old 2600k i get better fps in DCS when Hyper Threating is disabled.

yes. that's because HT are 'fake' virtual cores, not real ones.

when actual work has to get done, those HT tasks have to scheduled on the real physical cores, just like every other task. on some workloads, the fake HT tasks just get in the way.

always remember. only the real physical cpu cores do real 'cpu' work

I will give disabling HT another shot tho my GPU seldom drops below 97%. Still, at 5G I could make use of another 100-200MHz with modest temps and volts. I can play DCS with 5.2 with HT but the Volts needed are beyond my safe red line so to say.

I can say that in my experience disabling hyperthreading gave me a 23 fps boost in VR with no tweaking of the core affinity using Lasso. This is with a i7-8700 overclocked to 5ghz, 32-gig of RAM and an overclocked 1080Ti.

However, as always, YMMV.
