The MiG-21, in all of its' variants, has fought in wars stretching all the way from the Vietnam War in the 1960's to the modern day Syrian Civil War. Owing to it's unique blend of versatility, ruggedness and maintainability, the MiG-21 remains in active service to this very day.

Leatherneck Simulations' recreation of the MiG-21 is, by far, the most accurate and comprehensive simulation of a supersonic jet fighter to date. So strap in, and get ready to experience the rebirth of a legend.

DCS: MiG-21Bis preliminary changelog /DEC 2014/

This is what we have done in last month+:

  • landing lights brake/repair fix
  • fuel gauge fix /was not a bug, but users request/
  • fuel "450 lit"" light fix
  • flaps, small tune
  • cockpit engine sound fix
  • suspensions improvement
  • various commands/inputs fixed, some still exist /hard to "hunt" them around the forum/
  • further code optimization and reduced memory load

I probably forgot some, but these are the most important.

We wanted to fix that "ghost weapon still on the pylons" bug, but could not find the reason why it started to appear. We will have to ask ED to have a look at that one.

Mike is finalizing improved external 3D model which will appear in DCS 2. Hopefully, we will release a painting pack /templates/ for you to create your own or your squadron skins.

Out high priority at the moment is to improve FPS in cockpit. We are about to find a good solution. Hopefully, you will see it soon.

Note that bugs will continue to appear now and then, since the DCS is extending, and it will get harder and harder to plug-in new aircraft without any conflicts. We will deal with those along the way.

Bye

Dear All,

During the past few weeks we've been steadily making improvements to ensure the longetivity and excellence of the MiG-21 module. Some longer term and overarching improvements can be seen in the latest monthly update (January) and will be made available at a later date.

Here is a short list of improvements that are due to be included in the next DCS: World patch. Some of these are changes are not final and will require tweaking in the future. (e.g. the Flight Model).

DCS: MiG-21 Preliminary Changelog 1.2.14+

-Fixed fired weapons not disappearing from pylons/after wing separation

-Fixed engine surging when testing the nosecone with PPS.

-Separated main and auxiliary pitot tube installation freezing algorithm

-Fixed engine sound if the FORS/MAX AFB switch is used.

-Improved Oxygen usage algorithm.

-Improved precision of RSBN/PRMG NAV Data.

-Fixed radar lights in shut down/out of order states.

-Fixed Radar test mode reset.

-Fixed R-60 Lights.

-Improved engine air-temperature dependancy.

-Significant mprovement in Flight Modelling; especially in supercritical flight regimes.

-Engine Overspeed limit removed in Simulation Mode. Engine damage is now simulated.

-Fuselage Drag overspeed limit removed in Simulation Mode.

-Ground Steering (Taxi) more restrictive in Simulation Mode. ("Steering Assist").

Additionally; we're ccurrently working on fixing some incorrect ballistic calculations related to the ASP gunsight pipper. We hope that these will be ready in time for the next scheduled DCSW update.

Thanks,

Leatherneck Simulations

ACTIVATION - PATCH 1.2.15 - INFO

With DCS World 1.2.15, we upgraded the protection system for DCS: MiG-21bis. It is likely that you will have to perform an additional activation as the previous registry entry is not fully compatible with the new system. We are looking into batch resetting available activations to 10 for all keys.

If your module stops working, please read the patch notes for 1.2.15 for potential workarounds.

If any solutions fail, please contact us directly via the contact form at http://www.leatherneck-sim.com -- and we will quickly get back to you.

Dear All,

To find a permanent fix for the erroneous request for activation (regardless of changed hardware) - we are working to implement a fix that eliminates this error.

Unfortunately, this might mean that in 1.5.1 and in one future patch, you may be prompted for one additional activation of your license key. However, do not fret.

To put it bluntly; we will replace your key at any given time should you need it.

If you are low on activations or have completely run out; please send us an e-mail to:

nicholas.dackard@gmail.com and we will work with you to replace your key.

Please try to limit yourselves and only request a change in key if you feel it absolutely necessary to help alleviate our workload.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused,

Thank you,

Nick & LS

MiG-21Bis

Our Fishbed’s FM and systems will be investigated more after our Eagle is in testing. We are very aware of issues surrounding the AoA and ASP. We will try to squash the beef as best as we can.

Regarding the damage modeling, we suspect the same issue is going on as in the Christen Eagle.

The Fishbed’s cockpit has also seen some love by fixing all the lights. The green phosphor glow has also been increased and will make seeing switches, knobs and labels easier in pure darkness. Every single instrument needle has been changed from plane textures to 2D shapes that do not utilize alpha channel opacity. Clipping will not occur anymore. We also managed to squeeze in an update to the HUD texture. It makes seeing the ASP Grid easier and is more visually appealing in sunny conditions.

These current fixes are being tested now and will be uploaded to ED’s servers once approved. There is no date on the next patch release though.
