Frozen Marianas request

Recommended Posts

Maybe a crazy idea, but giving our lack of maps this could be an idea worth to explore. And is to use winter speed trees and textures into a fictional Winter season for the Marianas. In order to have a map to simulate North Atlantic or North Pacific islands with a winter look and lot of room for carrier operations.

Toughts?

It will not be realistic. It seems to have a constant temperature all year round

Yes, I have read it

I don't think ED would have time to create a fantastic script

As you know for sure, ED has to create a 2nd WW on the same map

Well I Endorse the pettition, It could pass as Attu Station, or St. Paul island in the bearing straits...

Of course if ED wants to give us the Aluttians, and or bearing Straits all the better!!!

By the way Grate for WWII Also ;)...

Snow would look strange on palm trees.

If you check my post you will see I requested to get winter speed trees as well.

a free Antarctica map would be good since there are so few things to model other than snow and wind

FC3 | UH-1 | Mi-8 | A-10C II | F/A-18 | Ka-50 III | F-14 | F-16 | AH-64 Mi-24 | F-5 | F-15E| F-4| Tornado

Persian Gulf | Nevada | Syria | NS-430 | Supercarrier // Wishlist: CH-53 | UH-60

The question is really: How big can a DCS map be? And how large is the memory footprint of a 500km x 500km map that has no land at all, just sea, with a flat sea bottom at about 1km depth? Would it be less than 1 GB? I would think so. If that's the case, why not make an arctic map? Or a generic ocean-only map where you choose the Lat-Lon and wind and weather. Just for carrier aviation, surface and sub-surface naval vessels. Oh, but the ice would have to be essentially like barren land surface. So, lets see...nuclear submarine below the ice, aircraft above the ice...never to interact with each other. Ok! WTF? LOL

What are "winter speed trees"?

Now, an Aleutian Islands map might be good.

How about a frozen Falklands map? Are we ever getting a Falklands map?
