Flap & prop pitch braking effect overdone?

I try to fly circuits by the book. Setting fine pitch before turning on final, full flaps on final, maintaining 160 kph. To do this, I need to apply a lot of power. a LOT. Then I watched this go pro video, and the guy floats in at idle, occasionally applying bursts of power, bringing the RPM up to 70% for a second. Mine is near 100% all the time, no matter how steep I come in. This is very strange. Can anyone with real life experience comment?

AcroGimp already mentioned that the flap drag is way too high.

The no flap approach speed is 170km/h and the difference between an idle glide angle with the prop fully forward and fully back looks ok to me.

Getting used to the flap pitch 'issue' since it's easily manageable and the pitch effect might need only to be reduced a bit.

 

But the flap drag is no-go. You can't even follow the real procedure, since this instructs you to climb at 160km/h with the flaps extended!

Flap drag is WAY off but I believe they are working it along with other things.

On a couple of occasions where I've left the flaps down during a touch and go irl you certainly know you've left them down :)

One way to address the current flap drag issue appears to be moving prop full forward (fine) at around the same time you deploy the flaps, this is early compared to how I fly the Yak IRL but the way DCS models prop drag/vs thrust appears to favor the fine pitch.

 

This is NOT how I fly IRL but may be a workaround for now.

Ouch. I wouldn't slam anything in the Yak-52 cockpit ;)

 

I'm staying with RL procedures. Counteract the pitch up with the stick and re-trim afterwards.

 

It doesn't take a lot of forward stick pressure to maintain the pitch attitude.

 

 

And from what I've read I wouldn't expect a big change concerning the pitch up moment.

Just pushing it forward completely while countering with the stick (which is just holding it in place as the force trying to push it forward builds up) and then applying flaps. Did it the other way round initially, but somehow ended up with that. So I put her out of trim basically and while dropping the flaps I just let go off the backstick which works quite well naturally with FFB. Without FFB you'd probably not do that. Moving spring center is something really great that I'd never drop. I just wish the stick was extended for more precision... dreaming of an FFB base for the WH... rainbowdashwink.png

But just countering the Pitch Up with my Stick won`t do for me, as the Speed drops rapidly to.

They should do some additional fixing here, as some RL pilots have sqaid, that this is way off.
