Windows help for noob

Recommended Posts

Ok, after following one of the recommended videos on how to increase performance on windows by cleaning out background programs, I am now

Met with a computer that seems to “spin” a-lot before going to the next function. Not quite sure how to describe it other than you used to click in a desk top icon and it was done, now it seems to have to load.

Anyway, is there a way to repair windows without having to reload all my program’s or am I screwed. I believe on of the things the video had me remove was the ability to roll back to a previous stable version? I do have my dcs files on a separate drive.

Thanks in advance.

Argh, 2 steps forward and one back

I wouldn't get cRazy with all that stuff. Turn off the gaming, xbox etc.

Set pc to performance.

Your pc (i9) will do it all without breaking a sweat and might save you .3 of a %.

I still run a 4 core and record DCS @ 60 fps at 1440p while flying on the largest servers with max settings.

What Big Newy said. You can reinstall with the option to keep your programs and apps. It's a good idea to do it every 6-12 months anyway. It comes in handy for trouble shooting and to start from a clean slate for a fresh baseline. There's so much going on under the hood in Windows and the SaaS model that no one person can keep track of it all.

Even Nvidia can be sneaky about bloatware but I wouldn't spend too much time trying to keep track of it all. I would only worry if something egregious shows in the task manager like lots of memory usage.

When I installed the Adobe Suite it had a process that was always checking for a current license via internet even after I uninstalled it and switched to Blender so I 86'd that but I tend to leave the other stuff alone.

Link the video and we'll see what could have caused that.

Recommended video was YouTube “ windows 10 1803 optimization guide for gamers and power users.

Followed to the T and it seems to be acting wonky now. Never paused after a click ever prior.

I have stopped about 60% thru the video.

Lemme tell it short, I woudnt follow this guide.

He's got 8GB RAM, he may need to turn off stuff, with 32GB and 8c/16t there is no urgency to turn ALL of that stuff off and many things he turned off can be turned OFF right when you install 10.

Turning OFF part of Windows Security made me laugh, cmon, he seeks attention more than he knows things.

No, there are plenty better videos and foremost TOOLS that have a REVERT ALL SETTINGS I CHANGED button.

It can be a maze run to find the thing that crippled yours with all the stuff he messed with.

No, no and again no imho
