ACTS Registration

Recommended Posts

Some of you may not know but I am the CO of a virtual flying squadron called the 13th Dragonslayers (note new shield in sig).

We are made up of members from the old 74th VFS lead by Tyger over the past few years.

With the release of Hawk next month I have decided to open up the 13th recruitment and take registrations for the ACTS programme.

Essentially candidates will run through the ACTS programme using the Hawk (and Typhoon when ready).

Primary flights will be on the Hawk; however certain missions may be on other airframes such as the A-10C and P-51D.

If you haven't followed what ACTS is about, it is Air Combat Training School and is based on the RAF Fast Jet Training Programme.

There are several elements to ACTS, these being:

Initial Officer Training (IOT)

Elementary Flying Training (EFT)

Basic Fast Jet Training (BFJT)

Formation Training (Wings)

Advanced Fast Jet Training (AFJT)

Tactical Weapons Unit (TWU)

Operational Conversion Unit (OCU)

In summary;

IOT - base interview of Fighter Pilot Trainee (FPT) to see if they will fit the programme

EFT - principles of flight, aircraft tech, meteorology and navigation

BFJT - start-up procedures, take off, circuits, patterns, landings, shut down procedures and emergencies (yellow/red cards)

Wings - principles, echelon, trail, breaks, rejoins, multiple flights formation (wing)

AFJT - basic fighter manoeuvres (BFM), air combat manoeuvres (ACM) and energy management

TWU - principles of the attack, missiles, guns, rockets, bombs and defensive manoeuvres & countermeasures

OCU - aircraft-specific operational and tactical training

IOT will take place during March with the training programme starting in April.

Training will be given by Instructor Pilots (IP's) with knowledge in their fields, be it real world or in the virtual world.

Spaces will be limited to ensure continuity of learning and not all FPT's will make it through the programme or may not even make it past IOT.

You don't have to have any combat or flying experience whatsoever as you will start back at the basics and if you do have experience; will likely unlearn the bad things you know.

We are looking at future real world sponsors to contribute to the training; be it visits to museums, simulators, etc. (country depending).

Cost of the programme; well you will need a copy of the Hawk so essentially $39.99

If you are interested in signing up, then please register your interest here: http://www.veaosimulations.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=1595.0 and I will contact you via PM.

Thanks,

Chris.
