Install broken ! How do I fix it ??? (DCS OPEN BETA)

My install is screwed up..

somehow, I cannot change the skin of the hornet or the loadout in the editor

the paintscheme drop down menu is always empty.

if I access the loadout menu from a F/A-18 Lot 20, then I am basically stuck. I cannot leave the mission editor or launch the mission. it will crash into a black screen.

the only thing I did that could potentially have created this issue, was to inject 3 news textures into my FA-18C-CPT-TEXTURES.zip at this location.. (as suggested here https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=216931&page=3 )

\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Textures

of course I had previously backed up the archive, and even after restoring it to the original one, my install is still FUBAR.

Anymore knowing where this could come from ?

would anyone be kind enough to upload me his own up to date FA-18C-CPT-TEXTURES.zip so i can download it and replace it to see if it fixes my problem ?

I really don't feel like reinstalling everything. Would appreciate it a lot.

maybe you can upload it to wetransfer and post the link here ? that would be great.

If you have any other idea, please let me know.. I don't know what really happened

thanks a lot

ps: I did a repair DCS from the start up menu, but it didnt work either.

I can launch a mission and play it just fine. I just cannot access the loadout winwow in the editor without issues.

Attempt a rename of your saved games folder for the install. Just name it something else, and let the sim recreate it. If that works, then you can grab your controller and logbook from the backed up version and load it into the new one.

Same issue with renaming the old Saved Games folder and creating a new one.

Its apparently not linked to saved games install folder

thanks though

I have deleted any FA-18C-CPT-TEXTURES.zip and recreated it with the repair Function.

didnt fix the issue either. So i do not think it is related. don't know what else to try...

deleting the F/A-18 Module and reinstalling it didn't fix it either.

How about a command line "DCS_Updater.exe cleanup" to check for some installed mod files you may have missed ???. You get the options to remove, keep, Backup anything that doesn't come with the game by default.

My guess would be:

  1. If the problem is in the Mission Editor, then the solution is usually to recreate your "Saved Games\DCS.xxxx\MissionEditor" folder where the payloads, weather, logbooks are kept (Yes I know that you tried the whole saved games folder).
  2. Would need to try and get a dcs.log of when you try to run and it crashes or when you try to re save a mission.

Regards, Ian.

THANK YOU for your help gents !

I used DCS Updater Utility to clean my install and back up my mods, and then I could identify the files creating the problem.

Apparently it was 2 .DS_Store and ._.DS_Store files in my liveries folder for the Hornet creating the problem.

I have no idea where they came from.
