Fantastic News!

My only wish for the F-16C is that we have a single seat AND a twin seat variant with multicrew.

It has been long known that the F-16 was in the works. Before the F-18C was announced it was up for debate if we were getting the Viper or the Hornet; up until that point we were only told we were getting a modern Western fighter used by many countries around the world.

It makes sense in the long and short term as a lot of the technology they are building can be moved from the Hornet module to the Viper module with less effort. It will still be a big undertaking and I wouldn't be surprised if some of those steps are already in the works.

I would not expect an F-16 announcement before Christmas '18. That does not mean we are getting one around the time, merely a formal acknowledgement of what is to come. At the earliest I would expect EA to be late Spring of '19.

The refinement of the Hornet will still take a lot of effort over the next 12-18 months after release, though there will be team members that have less and less workload in regards to the Hornet that can move on to the next project.

This is of course, just my merely humble opinion....

This is not a surprise at all. I recall Wags stating and I quote: 'Its not a matter of if, but when'. But you can all keep your panties dry for a good few years, because this is still DCS ;)

Blue Force earns one more point!

Red Force keeps sobbing.

Yeah, the F-16C is up there with the F-14 in terms of NATO jets I want to see in DCS, but It's becoming painfully obvious we won't be getting a DCS: modern Russian fighter anytime this decade.

If we get an F16C and a Mig29... and if they really are starting to plan out a Dynamic Campaign to start on once 2.5 is stable. I will have died and gone to heaven.

The F16C is so exciting I don't know what to think... maybe...

Any idea which block we're getting?

I'm afraid we might not get a lot of information for a while, the focus is on the F/A-18 and the Yak right now, they will not get too carried away with Viper talk until those are safely out of the gates, not to say we wont get any info, but right now, what you see is what we have.

My bet would be Block 50, specifically so the HTS and LANTIRN pod could be implemented. These two features would set the F-16 apart from any other module and fulfill a very exciting niche.

Between the UH-1H, F-5E, F-16?, F-4E and Syria map we should have a pretty compelling Turkish Air Force. All we need now is a tiny Turkish airfield just south of Batumi to fly out of :D.

So what I'm hearing is that you guys haven't committed to a block yet and are still in the info gathering stage? I just ask to get a feel for where you are in development.

Either way I can't wait to take this bird out with the Thunderbirds livery :pilotfly:

Hey guys,

Quote from the description of the new DCS commercial:

Pretty exciting news! :)

No, it's not ;)

I have changed the title of the thread, consider that the only real information we have right now, but feel free to use this thread to discuss your excitement about what is to come. Remember the old F/A-18 thread, here is the start of this one.

I'm here for the hype train only :)

exciting times!

:D.

USAF Block 40, 42, 50, 52 can all do that since the CCIP update.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

The Viper is definitely something I would pre-order as quickly if not more quickly than I did the Hornet.

I'll also be getting the Tomcat... and honestly think I'll be set on western aircraft for some time with the three in my arsenal of flight sims. Some full fidelity 4th gen red aircraft would be a lovely counter to all this freedom.

Great news, ED and Belsimtek for Viper!

I can't wait to fly the f-16C in DCS World. I wish Block 50 or 52. They will be perfect.

My all-time favourite airplane! Great.

I hope they model both Block 50 and 52, a block 30 would be a bit disappointing while a block 40 would be ok if they make the terrain following pod.

I hope ED realizes that after years of Falcon 4, and all the information and talk about the F-16, this one will be under a particularly bright spotlight and people will be very anal about it.

That's great but this sim is just becoming more and more of a NATO Simulator. It's so sad to see ED completely neglect half of the history of aviation. I would give up the F-16 and the F-4 to see ONE fully modeled modern RedFor Jet.

I understand the political problems with getting documentation but this scenario just keeps getting worse to the point where it's a friggin joke....

Well we can fight Iranian Tomcats against F-18´s, or Turkish F-4E against Israel F-16 in the future.
