Rhino is better in BVR and standoff obviously but not in VVR.

cheers

That's because the pilot is comparing block 2 supers fitted with apg79 aesa radar.

Block 1's and block 2 lot 26 to 29 ( prior to aesa refit) were still using the same an/apg73 phase 2 radar as late life legacy Hornets. So besides carrying more Amraams, and having more fuel for longer loiter time, the apg73 equipped super hornet would not be better in bvr than legacy.

Edit: you only bolded what suited your stance yet , just a paragraph prior to that the same citation states at low alt the sh has better t/w legacy hornet and has better sustained turn rate due to bleeding less energy in a turn. Depending if you are doing a one circle or two circle fight that is not a disadvantage, and actually an improvement over the legacy hornet in that arena.

You also have to remember why the super hornet came to being. Prime reason was because the navy found legacy hornet lacking in range/loiter time, and in ordinance carry capacity especially with the tomcat and a6 going out.

The super hornet essentially addresses those 2 main revised requirements the navy wanted to have improved upon over its predecessor. All the whilst having more refined avionics (whilst sticking to a very familiar layout ) especially more so as newer blocks came out.

ED...if ever there was a time to cash in on hype concerning the Super Hornet

This is it

Summer 2020 would be better, a movie trailer doesnt generate the hype the actual movie will.

It would be great to have a Super Hornet. But I doubt Boeing, or the American government would be willing to go along with that at this point in time.

It would be a good Recruitment Tool actually, at least that's how they saw the other Releases back in the 90's/2000's.

A Block I Super Hornet would be nice due to all the advantages in internal fuel and carry capacity the larger airframe brings over the Legacy Hornet. Granted, I'd still rather see the F-14D Super Tomcat become reality in DCS before the Rhino.

It would be great to have a Super Hornet. But I doubt Boeing, or the American government would be willing to go along with that at this point in time.

From within block 1 is still plausible to wish for. Maybe even a early block 2 ( IE lot 26)

Lots of core avionics and software commonality with a late lot legacy like we have in DCS along with carrying over the same post production upgrades it has. especially since the aforementioned models did not have AESA radars yet.

That being said perhaps so a potential Super Bug offers some extra incentives over a legacy hornet the 2 seat F/A18F model could be considered as well. Sure the Cat offers 2 seat Coop experience opportunity with other virtual pilots for naval aviation, but is a analog experience. The F/A18F could be Digital cockpit naval aircraft 2 player experience to the Legacy. For those who don't care about 2 seat, it wouldnt be a big issue, as the F/A18F could still be piloted by a single operator as successfully as one can operate a single seat Super Bug or Legacy. Whears in the tomcat the RIO is crucial position, in the Rhino the second person filling WSO is mostly there for reducing workload burdens.

DCS needs F-18 E and F

The NAVY does not like F-35 very much, the fleet now only uses F-18 E and F, the old F-18 still in flight condition have been sent to the various National Guards units , there is no more F-18 old versions in the NAVY.

Here is a list of the units and their planes that I have put together based on fairly recent informations. DCS ED must therefore urgently, for the sake of reality, undertakes those two aircraft in AI.

DCS has never been "current", it's all 15+20 years or more snapshots in time.

It's up to mission designers to pair something off, or you get calls to please nerf the f16 cause the p-51 can't compete in AA

i7 8700k @ 4.7, 32GB 2900Mhz, 1080ti, CV1

Virpil MT-50\Delta, MFG Crosswind, Warthog Throttle, Virptil Mongoost-50 throttle.

That's not true, F-18C is not "old" it was retired from the NAVY just last year - 2018, and its in active service in USMC. USMC will operate with F-18C to 2030. USMC has in active service even some F-18A squadrons, who is older than F-18C.

I would think that anything even NEAR current would be a simplified module. Two reasons: information not being declassified, and they're not going to let you train to go steal active planes. Am I right? :D

There is a lot of current AI planes or missiles like SU-34 or Kalibr, so why not F-18 E and F ?

And it’s true the Marine Corps will keep is F-18 waiting for the F-35 which encounter a lots of problems, I didn’t mean the F-18 A, B, C or D are old, I just meant ‘previous’.

Of course information about F-18 E and F are not declassified but I don’t think informations about a lots of weapons in DCS are.

Now? DCS doesn't take place now. It's all more or less recent history.

Now there are F-35, F-22, Su-35, J-20, Eurofighter, Rafale etc.

So what? Someone should create some pretesnional post DCS "needs" i.e. F-22?

Modeling this planes is not possible nor legal.

Do you think military will compromise national security because some guys want to fly today's fighters?

If it's AI then making a model for it would be possible and integration too, the AI cheats anyway right now.
