This course will demonstrate how to set the F-14 up in the mission editor as well as explain how the navigation points work with the Tomcat.

Next Course!

This course, we'll be discussing entering waypoints in using the F 10 map as well as long/lat coordinates. We'll also go over the TACAN and different options available to you. Enjoy!!

thanks Pac-Man for the eye-opening tutorial on Tomcat's navigation points.

I'm quite sure that you can help me out of the problem I still have with the additional nav points. (WP1 - WP3 are o.k.)

I set up FP, IP and ST as I saw in your video. Named them correctly. I can see them on my ME map.

But in the F-14B I don't have any distance or bearing info whenever I (or Jester) switch(es) to one of them. So I can't use FP, IP and ST for navigation.

Is there something I missed? Do you have any idea what I could be doing wrong?

(P.S.: using stable version of DCS)

Thanks for the prompt reply. I was driven by it so I got rid of the problem now.

My fault: I simply pressed ENTER after FP, IP and ST in the ME what made the nav points unusable via the RIO presets. Without ENTER it works perfectly as you described!

So thanks again! Your video was very helpful to love the Tomcat even more.

Looking forward to more of your tutorials!

Quick question, I noticed that some of these waypoints are not selectable to be used for navigation. Like the hostile area, defend point, etc. You can’t have jester point you to that point. Is this correct, or am I doing something wrong?

Thats correct, only the points selectable on the RIOs Dest rotary are available for dest steering.

Ah okay. Just wanted to make sure.

So how do you go to Hostile Area Point and Defended Point?

They are not supposed to be navigated to. If you want to navigate to them anyways, then the RIO will have to use his TID for that.

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
