Improved API sound support ? new sound engine?

Recommended Posts

Please somebody explain me what is:

Improved API sound support

which should be part of 1.5 open beta and will be part of 2.0 also.

I was praying for new DCS sound engine, which will simulate sound more accurately and realistically, especially for piston engines.

Im sorry if I missed some similar topic, or if this topic is wrong placed.

Have a peak at the LUA if you want to know more. There is a new directory called DCS World OpenBeta\Sounds\Sounders

Personally the first time I noticed improved sound in 1.5 was in Combined Arms ... the turbine engines in the MBTs sound awesome.

Last time I checked, the publicly available API was completely missing several essential features, such as sound or external lights. I assume the intention is for it to be impossible for an unlicensed 3rd party to create a decently polished aircraft mod, so the limited public availability of the API serves only to allow prospective third parties to play with the system enough until they are prepared to request third party status.

New API is for licensed 3rd parties and details of it are for them

Why would you put something in a change log has no impact, or utility, for the end user?

How does that not have an impact on the end user? Explain.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.
