2080ti vs 1080ti

Recommended Posts

I almost bought the 1080ti yesterday, but I noticed that the price of the 2080ti is not that much higher. Besides, the 2080ti is not a monster device compared to the 1080ti. For the 1080ti I'd need a bigger computer box.

Anyone with any experience with the 2080ti?

I wonder where you are at. Here in the USA, the 1080 TI is less than half the price of the 2080 TI. In terms of performance, the 2080 ti is around 30% faster than the 1080 ti in general gaming according to pretty much all the independent reviews.

System specs: i5-10600k (4.9 GHz), RX 6950XT, 32GB DDR4 3200, NVMe SSD, Reverb G2, WinWing Super Libra/Taurus, CH Pro Pedals.

Are you sure you're looking at 2080ti cards? 2080ti usually costs roughly twice as much as the 1080ti and the cards are at least the same size or bigger. They're all monsters and the 2080ti even more so.

PC Specs / Hardware: MSI z370 Gaming Plus Mainboard, Intel 8700k @ 5GHz, MSI Sea Hawk 2080 Ti @ 2100MHz, 32GB 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM

Controllers / Peripherals: VPC MongoosT-50, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, modded MS FFB2/CH Combatstick, MFG Crosswind Pedals, Gametrix JetSeat

OS: Windows 10 Home Creator's Update

Both cards are listed as being 10.5 inches long. The 2080ti is wider by about 3/16th of an inch. They are both 2 slot height cards. I would check your source again.

I double-checked the source. Was on Amazon from a shop owner from, well, a place where you don't usually buy stuff.

I'm buying the 1080ti then, I guess. Thanks for the replies, guys!

Same choice for me.

I am building a new computer for DCS and after reading some tests and comparaison between the 1080ti and 2080ti on the web I finally choose the 1080ti...

Given that the difference in VR is 45fps with most settings low-medium -OR- some settings low-medium-medium the 1080 ti is a wise choice. The gap is there, but 4-500€ are also 4-500€ or US$.
