Trimming issue?

Recommended Posts

So I have tried this bird for about 10+ hour in the free trial and I don't get this.

Is it normal or its the beta that this bird needs full trim forward for level flight else it just wants to climb no matter what?

My other question that I realized there is only 2 steps for pitch down trimming while there is about 6 or more for up . What is the reason of this when using only 2 steps pitch up create similar lift like a full stick pull?

I really like this bird and I have planned to buy it but this trimming issue drives me crazy so it keeps me on the fence.

I have tryied every WW2 bird but only this has this strange feel that it never wants to fly straight. :(

What am I doing wrong?

You're doing nothing wrong. That's how the adjustable stabilizer mechanism in the plane is rigged. It can be trimmed out (full forward) for hands off flying only with econo cruise power setting of around 1.05-1.1 ATA and speed of around 400-ish km/h IAS (a bit faster if MW tank is empty and fuel is low, or a bit slower if MW tank is full and fuel is full).

The trimming curve has been modelled after charts for Gustav series, because there were no charts for Kurfurst available. More on the subject here:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=200423

Some players suggest that real K-4 might have featured revised mechanism, allowing it to cruise hands-off with higher boost settings of about 1.25 ATA, but with no detailed sources available, current implementation in DCS is here to stay.

Because of relative high stick forces at high mach, pilot cant trim nose down, this would lead to problems while pulling out of the dive.

Stick forces Fw190 vs Bf 109

Fw 190 at mach 0.7 7.5kg bf 109 at mach 0.7 +30kg

Thank you all. So I guess I have to deal with this on the long run if I wanna like this bird .

Thanks for the link It would be a good read. :)

But most of the anecdotes are about the "G" version I am not sure how different was that from the "K" ?

  • 1 month later...

Theres a default trim setting you adjust in the options i think for ailerons and rudder. Thing is I dont understand if I need + or - for downward nose trim?

Also to be fair i thought the 109 was auto everything like the 190 lol. I take off and 20 seconds later my engine.goes bang and I glide down to the ground again. Duont know what's going wrong, thought auto start sorted everything......

After take off you need to switch automatic prop governor ON.

For take off fixed pitch mode is used. If you stay in this mode and don't reduce throttle or increase prop pitch manually you will over rev engine.

You should set pitch to 11:45 - 12:00 for take off.

Thanks man, so make sure auto prop govern is on! Auto start not use it for T/O?

Take off is done in manual mode so auto start wont turn it on.But for simplification you can turn ON prop governor before take off, works well too.
