Cpt. Smiley, maybe we can use my F-16 model and cockpit. i know i'm moving slow and never finish in the terms but i'm sure i'm doing a good model. the thing is i'm taking care of the 3d and skins but i don't want to do more. if you like my model you can use it. i'm building all the blocks and starting with the F-16A anyway..

i am giving the 3d cockpit finished to someone who wants to be involved in this, to set the animations. of course with the restrictions of not commercialize it in any way. the 3D exterior of the model i'm keeping for me, i'm doing all the modifications and animations myself.

Hi Cpt Smiley,

Maybe I can help you with the flight model. In the past I released a flight dynamics software for Helicopters in FSX currently used by several real pilots (HTR a.k.a. Helicopter total realism) , and I am interested in understanding more the too much undocumented AFM in DCS World.

Out of couriositiy. I my past software (HTR) I used an approach that created forces from external parameters in a config files, and then calculated linear and angular velocities based on forces, torques, mass and moments of inertia. As I understand you are using more a tabular data type of approach ?

Anyway I'd be glad to contribute.

Bye

Fred

And here I was, thinking someone finally develops a F-16 module...

But it's one step closer, now a group just really needs to code the Cockpit systems and build the Cockpit and External 3d Model.

I forgot to add...once I complete the flap control laws I can't really go any further with the current publicly available knowledge of the API. That means this will have no altering of weights/moments of inertia, no ground reaction modeling or gear state updating, any many other features.

This will be purely a flight dynamics model with aerodynamics data, FCS control laws logic, and engine model dynamics.

Once I clean up the code, comment it, and get it packaged I'll have this out for you guys. I hope it will also help you guys get started.

Thanks for this, nice to see an open display of help for things like this!

Each weapon does cause a different response but it's all about the same...instant decel to ~40 knots pitch over then you just fall to the ground at 40 knots. It's a little disappointing but oh well.
Very interesting...

Tango.

do you have that problem Tango?

TBH, the only time i had this problem in SFM is when I added 1 too many Zeros to the Base Weight of the aircraft, and the plane just fell from the sky unresponsive to thrust or surface delfection.

CptSmiley, I currently have that problem even without weapons loaded. I can't even make progress anymore. also, you don't have anything less than third parties have when it comes to the EFM API. there are just many unanswered questions and ED Devs are focused on other things at the moment.

Wow... I take it the jet is flying straight and level for the first 5 seconds or so, then just suddenly flips?

The fact that gravity appears to be almost suspended suggests that your forces are getting completely screwed up.

Best regards,

Tango.
