Hardware spec for DCS 2.1

Good afternoon, actually i have a system with the following spec:

 

I7-3770 @ 4,1ghz

G-Skills Sniper 8Gb DDR3 2133mhz

Asus R9 290X Direct-CU2 4GB ddr5

2 SSD in RAID0 (where DCS is installed)

 

At this moment i run DCS 1.5.7 pretty fine, with high settings, except for:

 

Shadows - flat (my AMD card doesn't like shadows very much)

Terrain shadows - flat

HDR - off

Water - low

Trees distance - lowered a bit

Cockpit res - 512 every frame

 

All the other settings are maxxed out, with MSAA 4X and AF 16X

 

With these settings i have a solid 60fps@1080p with v-sync, using FC3 or A-10C.

 

With v-sync off i have fps oscillating from 70 to 200 fps, depends the situation and the number of object in the area.

 

My intention is to try DCS 2.1 with Nevada.

 

Do you think, with my configuration, i'll able to run them without serious performance issue?

 

I have this doubt before buying NTTR.

You meet the minimum specs with 8GB Ram. You can run it but Recommend you add another 8GB of Ram.

You will have a better experience. So try it as you are and see how it goes.

 

I run that same processor at 4.6 with a Noctua air cooler. So kick it up if you can.

You are in good shape for NTTR otherwise.

 

Minimum system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i3; RAM: 8 GB; Free hard disk space: 30 GB; Discrete video card: 2 GB RAM (AMD, NVIDIA); requires internet activation.

 

Recommended system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows 7/8/10; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+; RAM: 16GB; Hard disk space: 30 GB; Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX780 / ATI R9 290 DirectX11 or better

Yes, adding another 8gb of ram was already in my plan.

Unfortunately i cannot go over 4,1ghz with my cpu because i have a non K version....so only 4,1ghz maximum.

Sure, through in that Ram and you should be good to go for now.

Good luck with getting another 8G kit to work with your current one

I tried a 8G upgrade a few years ago and even using same make model kits I could not get it to work right

ended up getting a 2 x 8G kit and ditching my other 2 x 4G kits

Honestly i had a doubt about only adding or change completely.

I think i'll change completely ram with 2x8 brand new.

Better to have higher frequencies or lower CL? Or doesn't matter?

 

Because price difference is substantial.

I think i'll change completely ram with 2x8 brand new.

 

I increased my RAM from 8 Gb to 16 Gb recently and I changed completely the RAM (no mixing old / new).

 

For 130€ I took Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 1600Mhz CL9.

 

I did not want to spend more to save money to buy a better graphic card.

Make sure your IMC supports 2133+ !

 

For example, a 2nd gen i5/i7 like i7-2600k will not, max speed is 2133 for those.

My sistem should support up to 2800mhz ddr3... at least regarding documentations of 3th gen I7, but i'm not sure about this.

i'm already at 2133mhz. My upgrade will be G.Skill 16GB 2400Mhz i think.
