Love flying the Huey; cold start-ups and engine-shut-downs are realistic, have completed various missions, navigate with NDB's and ILS on various runways, use radios to communicate with ATC and hover taxi from ramp to beginning of runway.. that's all fine :)

However, have NOT found out how I can take screenshots and / or where or in what directory they are saved. The Huey manual doesn't talk about it at all.

See and learn from 'DSC Huey' videos on YouTube, but have no idea how to actually make them :(

Could someone give some guidance on this?

Best Regards

Get fraps is my advice. A screenshot, movie, fps app. Or iirc print screen saves screenies to bin folder of your dcsw installation. Also saving track at end of mission is a movie that can be uploaded for people to watch in game. Saved as .trk

Cibit has said all. you can use ingame track to make your video and use printscreen button to do a screenshot but you can also use an other way which is to use some "apps" like frpas to do a screenshot or record a video. After you can use some other software which allow you to do mounting with some effects on your video like add music, cut some part of the video, do a zoom etc

Thanks for the ideas, will check into 'frpas'.

Screen shots are located in "{Username}/Saved Games/DCS/Screenshots/" folder.

Yes you can use Fraps to record screen. But it creates avi file format and it will be very high file size to upload anywhere. You must get a video process software (such as Sony Vegas etc.) to arrange/compress or do anything on it.

yes sorry, it's FRAPS. Camtasia studio can be good no ? It is like Sony Vegas but easier I think

Yup. Any video editing software really. Camtasia, or Video ReDo (http://www.videoredo.net/) would work as well.

  • 9 months later...

I have noticed that screenshots have recently been saved as jpg to the user folder, as expected.

I have also noticed they are being saved as .bmp in the main game /bin folder.

When did this start?

Didn't start something like that. I have tons of images in user folder, but nothing in bin folder.

Those BMPs may be captured by another software, like SweetFX?

Could possibly be. I do not recall them ever being there before.

Will check the SweetFX settings to see.
