And because people have been bringing up the issue splitting the user base to people with the asset pack and people without it (since you can't join a game using the asset pack if you don't own it, even if you will never use it yourself)... so ED might be trying to combine the asset pack with different products to make sure the barrier to entry is as low as possible...
