Hi...

Modelviewer.exe in bin directory doesn't work: "DCS stopped working!"

I downloaded latest version of Modelviewer from FTP server of Eagle.ru

It works, loads EDM but doesn't load textures, even if I browse texture zip or dir to mount.

Is there a problem or is it me?

Thanks.

Thanks for fast response. :)

I look at Ka-50 and Mi-8. Couldn't get stock cockpit textures.

I loaded A-10C EDM, but can't even see the cockpit model. :)

make a ModelViewer.bat file

/bin/ModelViewer.exe

and put in main DCS Folder.

if you want textures on the standalone EDMViewer, you have to modify the autoexec.lua in the /Config/Modelviewer/ folder

ie:

mount_vfs_liveries_path ("C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Bazar/Liveries")
mount_vfs_texture_path("C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Bazar/World/textures/CockpitsPlatinumBMP")
mount_vfs_texture_path("C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Bazar/World/textures/CockpitsTexturesBMP")
mount_vfs_texture_path("C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Bazar/World/textures/CockpitsTexturesTGA")
mount_vfs_texture_path("C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Bazar/World/textures/Cockpit-SU25T-TexturesBMP")
mount_vfs_texture_path("C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Bazar/World/textures/Cockpit-SU25T-TexturesTGA")
mount_vfs_texture_path("C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Mods/aircrafts/A-10C/Cockpit/Resources/Model/Textures/A_10C_C_EDM_TEX")
mount_vfs_texture_path("C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Mods/aircrafts/Flaming Cliffs/Cockpit/Resources/Model/Textures/F-15C-CPT-TEXTURES")
mount_vfs_texture_path("C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Mods/aircrafts/Flaming Cliffs/Cockpit/Resources/Model/Textures/A-10A-CPT-TEXTURES")
mount_vfs_texture_path("C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Mods/aircrafts/Flaming Cliffs/Cockpit/Resources/Model/Textures/SU-27S-CPT-TEXTURES")
mount_vfs_texture_path("C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Mods/aircrafts/Flaming Cliffs/Cockpit/Resources/Model/Textures/SU-25-CPT-TEXTURES")

Ah! Works now!

Many thanks SkateZilla!

I think one of main problem was installing DCS World in different folder by me. :music_whistling: Your example let me to understand the situation.

Thanks again. :)

And thank you SKVSpiner for your attention.

Best wishes. :pilotfly:

Hi Guys,

Have just begun exploring EDModelviewer in order to start learning how to create new liveries.

I've spent a few hours searching the forums but couldn't find an answer.

Is there a way to have EDmodelviewer reload the liveries instead of having to close it down and reopen and reload the liveries to see the changes I've made via Photoshop ?

Or is via the game another way?

Thanks for your help.

The 1.2.16 embedded EDM Viewer reloads textures when you use the option for "Reload Model".

However, last time I used the 1.5 embedded it didnt, will double check.

For me lately though, with 1.5 using a unified EXE and DX11,

I simply use DCS, Make the Livery LUA, Save you DDS files for the new livery, mame a small mission with the aircraft on the ground or in the air, load mission, observe, then alt tab back to photoshop, make any changes, save new dds overwriting normally, go back to dcs, exit mission back to mission editor, and then hit fly again.

its a nearly instant loading time for me.

Thanks for the tip!

The 1.5 Open Beta EDModelViewer crashes for me. I downloaded the latest from ED website , but had to copy and paste the models and liveries into it's own directory path.

Reload model however wasn't working.

Thats a good idea to test from within DCS itself; that way you also have better environment lighting etc to test with.

Thanks

My Open Beta 1.5.1 MV throws up an error message when I have an autoexec.lua in Saved Games config folder. Still loads, but doesn't load the modelviewer.cfg with my saved preferences. Remove the autoexec.lua, problem fixed.

Hi! I am trying to run edModelViewer (134399), but I have an error windows: Missing ImGuid.dll.

What could be the problem?

Note: edModelViewer is installed in another partition than DCS World.

You don't need to always have the latest nightly build of the plugins. Find a recent-ish one that works and stick with it. Usually don't have any major changes to them unless there's a big DCS update.

blaze is correct, actually, the one included in dcs installation is fine enough

no need to always use the latest one

it's recommended to use the one included in DCS installation

download and unzip to get the bat script, then put it under root folder of dcs installation doc

and run it

model_viewer.zip

You dont need the .Bat anymore,

You can launch the ModelViewer.exe Directly.
