Any experience with Samsung Odyssey Plus & DCS yet?

I realize it's only been out a short time, but we still need a thread to discuss.

Thinking about the plus, but I really want to hear some reports from DCS pilots that have shaken it out a bit.

I can't find anything DCS specific but some reviews I saw indicate that the anti SDE technology does work.

If someone's already digging in to DCS with the Odyssey plus, please share your experiences & impressions.

Considering they were taken with a cell phone, I totally agree they look great. The instruments are immediately readable.

Thanks!

Looking forward to hearing the experiences when yours arrives guys!

Tempting... very tempting. Especially the more vivid colors shown on BeachAV8R's photos look fantastic.

I'll have my Odyssey+ tomorrow and offer my impressions as it relates to original odyssey (I returned it) and my Rift (which I've used exclusively for DCS for the past 2 years).

I have had mine now for just over a week. It's great but it is not as comfortable as my Rift. Reduced SDE is fpr real. Slightly more FOV than my Rift (my opinion). I wish they could put these panels in my Rift.

Thanks for the thoughts.

$500! improvement?

System: 9700, 64GB DDR4, 2070S, NVME2, Rift S, Jetseat, Thrustmaster F18 grip, VPC T50 stick base and throttle, CH Throttle, MFG crosswinds, custom button box, Logitech G502 and Marble mouse.

Server: i5 2500@3.9Ghz, 1080, 24GB DDR3, SSD.

It's far past a longshot that the level of improvement in this technology (for now) will be linear with the price point.

I'm pretty sure you know that going in.

Even so, this is coming in at $150 over the rift, so we'd be looking for $150 worth of improvement. It kinda seems like it's there from the initial reports so far.

Hi

I’m looking for your feedback before buying Odyssey+

I understand that the anti SDE will smooth image, with a positive effect on « outside of the cockpit » environment, but my concern is cockpit readabilty.

At the moment I run Oculus at 2.0 and cockpit is pretty readable without zooming

Would appreciate your feedback on this: is Odyssey+ making cockpit instruments sharper and more readable vs Oculus SS 2.0?

Thank you very much

Mr_sukebe, too me because it doesn't fit my head comfortably so it makes it too hard to say. No doubt the panels are higher res, more vibrant colors and reduced SDE. If I had no headset I would buy it over the Rift. If I owned a Rift and had a limited funds I would pass on the Odyssey+.

I used and elastic strap to help with comfort.

Jolk, it won't hurt cockpit readability. It's higher resolution makes it slightly better. They didn't blur the SDE as much as they put light into it. The one problem I have with it is the vertical sweet spot seems smaller. In my Rift I could move my eyes to read where as now I have to move my head.
