Here's hoping they allow us to turn the A-6E into the KA-6D even if only rudimentary. After all, most, KA-6Ds where re-purposed A-6E.

Caveat:
Yes there are stark differences between the two, that doesn't change my desire for them to make it possible.

Multiple variants of the same basic airframe by two different developers would be a disaster and ED wouldn't allow that.

The last news Razbam gave on the A-6 was a while back, now with the whole Falkland's theatre going on and the aircraft they want to make for that, I wouldn't be surprised if we see Heatblur produce the module since Razbam has their plate quite full, either way, whoever (if) makes the module, I'm sure it will be great.

Ok I'm going to start some wild unfounded speculation here... In razbams post about the Falklands they implied maybe another 3rd party could do the A-4. Maybe thats because heatblur has the Gruman connection?

Also I'm shocked... I was convinced the next aircraft would be the
F-111. Not disappointed though.

Sorry revelation, but your statement is not correct in any way. The D's came before the E's. They are not re-purposed E's at all. In fact the other way around. There were new build and rebuild A-6E's. Followed by TRAM updates, and many more. One of the largest improvements: a completely new composite re-wing program on the E's after multiple crashes lead to the discovery of fatigue and wing failures.

With all of this said, the press release states that they are doing both of the aircraft KA, and E- Tram as Ai of course.
