[REPORTED] MP Bouncing Hornets & Tomcats

Zeagle

Recommended Posts

Can confirm this, aircraft that start on a carrier, CVN/LHA start to bounce as soon as they touch down on an airfield. It appears random as to when it happens, some times client or host can land and there is no bouncing, but take off again and land...the bouncing starts.

Will try to get a track if there is not one posted soon.

I can confirm this issue as well. We noticed it only happens after you have completed a mission and land again at a land base.

Is this the same issue? In this case the bouncing plane is the host of the server. Most likelly a network issue in this case.

No, we were on our server so we were all clients.

No the "bouncing" is much more akin to massive desync. The aircraft shoot up and down in the z axis, below the ground then up in the air.

Would also like to add, this might be worth moving to 2.5 bugs, as this happens with other aircraft also. Have experienced the same behaviour with the AV8B.

The bouncing is actually in sync with the ships pitching and rolling that it took off from. The farther away from the ship you took off from, the more exaggerate the bouncing will be.

This also happens to Harriers FYI.

Negative. It happens on land and it is a 1000' leap upward or more

That is what I am saying. when you go to land, this happens. The farther away from the ship, the higher you go. It is tied to the pitch and roll of the ship. If the weather is worse, you will go even higher. Calm winds, you will go only a few hundred feet (more the further away you are form the ship).

EDIT: Pay attention next time you go out and see this. the bounding aircraft does not hit the same height every time, as it is dependent on the ships random pitch and roll.

StrikeEagle is correct. It is synced to the movement of the ship. But to replicate it, you need at least one other player from the ship. You cannot see your own jumping.

And how come you guys don't have a track upload feature here?

not sure why we need to even upload a track. this is easily replicated. ED guys can get two people to do this. one sits at an air base and waits for the other to take off from the ship and head to his base. The guy lands and boom, bouncing starts.

I'll try and log in tonight and witness it myself as well, but seems more netcode, or user connection dependant more than the Hornet itself.

it happens to any carrier aircraft FYI. Harrier, Choppers as well. You just have to be on land and someone needs to come from a ship and land on the ground, then they will start flying up and down in the air.

This is definatly not user connection, but i would agree netcode, as this is not just the Hornet. I have a sneaking suspicion its linked to whatever methods they have used to reduce deck sliding.

not only the hornets, but the Hueys sitting on the back helipad on the ships too, they slide around.

  • 3 weeks later...
  • ED Team

Easy to replicate yet not one track, I have not seen it yet when I have played multiplayer, so it would be nice to see someone that does load a short track and all their logs and dxdiag file.

It sounds like it happens at mission start, so even a short MP track, log in, load up, see it, exit MP, pull track. Watch the track, see if its there, upload.
