AI can fly backwards...

Recommended Posts

It's hard to reproduce since the AI doesn't always do what you want it to do.

But when I was able to achieve it was when we both were really slow, and the AI slowly started to overtake me. As usual, they pull up then but since it was really slow, it didn't have lots' of elevator authority I guess, and I also tried to follow him up to force the AI to continue his maneuver.

I'll try to reproduce further.

Ive seen AI when in formation, doing magical things too. Not exactly flying backwards, but they suddenly slow down instantly making it appear that they do fly backwards - or speed up instantly, or bank at a given angle, but actually turn a lot less than their attitude would indicate. Like they are being forced into place, and AI physics being overwritten at that moment in time.

This being offline, so no MP warping.

Yeah, appears to be a maintaining formation issue. Reporting.

I can reliably reproduce the bug with regard to take-off and landing formation AI behavior issues. But once they get into formation they seem to be ok. Didn't check combat though for something like the first post.

Although I haven't tried often, there were cases where I came close to this case but not exactly the same, which means I haven't been able to reproduce yet.

I wrote in a previous post how you can try and reproduce it too, so maybe if we are more people trying together, we can reproduce it quicker.

Thanks

looks like a quirk of the current damage model, we should see changes soon with the new damage model.

thanks

Good news, it looks like the new damage model will fix this issue.

Replaying the track in my internal build the 109 does not hang and fall backwards after taking damage.

So we will need to be a little more patient, but we should see a fix.

thank you

Will take a look, thanks.

Although why would you do acrobatics in a active Flak area?

Because it was a reliable way to get the AI into the right conditions do replicate it.

So I tried the track, I didn't see any flying backwards.

Maybe try building a mission yourself? After all AI likes to redo their actions in replays.

Either way, it's still happening.

Doing acrobatics in an A-10C in an active combat zone vs WWII equipment doesn't seem like the right conditions for anything.

The second comment I will ignore, if you can show he a proper track I will check it out, otherwise waiting for the GFM might be the best bet.

It was a test mission to showcase one issue and found a different one. It did get the AI continuously into a backwards flying attitude. It was a set up for an old issue that was hard to reproduce. But that is not the issue here so let's stay with the AI flying backwards.

So you are now ignoring advices on how to replicate a bug? It's a fact that the AI does not always do the same in replays, it can also be observed in the track if you re-run it multiple times.

Either way, as a matter of fact, the track still shows the issue, I did re-run it now and it still flies backwards to some extend after ~10 re-runs.

No I am ignoring your snotty comment about me and that maybe I should try building a mission, I play and build missions pretty much every day, most with the AI from simple to complex actions.

When I played your track back, I saw no backwards flying.

Please supply a track in a normal scenario that might show this happening, Acrobatics is not meant to be in a combat zone, and could cause some strange and weird reactions. A

As it stands now, I cannot reproduce your issue.
