xaoslaad
This photo shows a different landing gear configuration. What was the purpose for the difference? Are we getting both (not that it probably matters much either way, just morbid curiosities). https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/upload/iblock/147/DCS-Yak-52-WIP-01.jpg Edit, NM, perspective is playing tricks. DragonShadow
I do like the thought of having a study-sim level nose-wheel prop plane for DCS. It's a combination I've missed just for the difference of handling and aerodynamics compared to what we have so far. Doesn't hurt either that I've had the chance to see and photograph some real Yak-52's performing aerobatics. Devil 505
loving the direction ED is headed. I will buy this first day. For those of us who just love to fly, aerobatics, ect.... this will be a welcome addition to the hangar. You can never have to many aircraft in your inventory. Thats like us Texans saying you can never have to many guns in the safe.
firmek
The situation is quite straight forward. Someone needs it and made a deal with ED. Just conider Yak-52 as as a bonus module. We can be rather sure that under different circumstances it wouldn't made it into DCS. Though it's not exactly the hotest and most sexiest plane in the world, it's a win-win situation for everyone. Those that don't like it wont buy it but there is no reason to complain, especially that it's not pulling away any of the 3'rd parties from their planned projects. Personally I love the Albatros, will get C-101 when it matures more. But if Im fancy for a prop I'll rather hop in to any of the warbirds or TF-51. firmek
You're really over interpreting it. It's not like we’re witnessing strategical change of EDs profile. They just got a chance to increase their EBIT, maybe use some of it to gain more stability, found the core development or even use it to onboard some new people. Just consider it as a side project. Yup, that's just the 52's gear retracted. It's kind of nice if you have to land with gear up. A lot of the Cold War era Yak pistons are like that. Reformers hate him! cichlidfan
it seems to be a good aircraft for us to learn how two players can operate the same aircraft / introductory to co-piloted aircraft. That assumes that the required feature is available sooner rather than later. We have a couple of helicopters that should also have that feature, someday, and they have been out for a long time. I wouldn't count those chickens just yet. Also, there is a big difference between a co piloted aircraft and a training aircraft. cichlidfan
It's quit simple, but this math is certainly an oversimplification: 63,000 users times $60 per module equals approximately a $3.78 cool million dollar sale. $60 would be overpriced for such a module and presuming 63k in sales, at that price, is more than optimistic.
