shagrat
Nice to see the 2.0 of the Hawk and how does make it fly like... One thing that always was odd to me was that Hawk always felt like a paperplane, so it "didn't have a mass". Maybe because the sound effects or the agility etc. But it just was so "light" and "paper kind plane". Difficult to put finger on it.It is one of the smaller and lighter planes. It is pretty agile, and given the fact, that multiple real live Hawk pilots seem to be quite happy with the (current EFM), yet still give input, to optimize and better the overall FM, I am sure the basic "feel" won't change much. As a armchair pilot myself, I always felt the current EFM was very "believable" and "felt" like I would expect an agile little trainer would handle. Let's see what improvements to the FM come with Hawk 2.0, though I don't expect major changes in handling. jeffdude
The flight model is quite fun in the air! It sure does move quick at different stages of flight. A little texture magic may actually elevate this thing pretty high in my book, especially as a trainer/ something fun to fly :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Link to comment

The HSI should work. It just needs around 3 or 4 minutes to have gained enough speed to the gyro before it starts to align. I wouldn't bother reporting texture issues before the new PBR textures are out. If issues persist after the update then go file a report on the appropriate subforum and thread. Should be in the next update (you did not read the first post of this thread it seems, but simply copy/paste a supposed "bug list" from somewhere?) So maybe read the original post again, carefully as it contains a lot of info. By the way, a complete overhaul of the ASM / API very likely means the whole avionics are done from scratch, so the old(!) bugs in the Hawk will be either gone, or replaced by new ones... They won't go fixing things in the old ASM, hence the talk about a Hawk 2.0 that will get new code for ASM and updated EFM for free... They do a complete "new" code programming as Pman posted in the first post of this thread. It's like listing flaws from a 1980ies Volkswagen Golf, when somebody is talking about the features of the upcoming 2018 model ! EDIT the important point is, they do not fix bugs in the old code (apart from that sticky taxiway, game breaking ones), but make a complete new code. But I am very optimistic we see only the typical minor stuff. No game breaking issues like in the old code and API... Fingers crossed. They're embarking on a massive code refactor because their current code isn't up to scratch. I very much doubt they've got a full suite of unit and integration tests, so experience of doing large refactors myself on bad code bases tells me it will be buggy initially, but it's generally much much easier to find and rectify them. SkateZilla
Just to point out. The Hawk even now has EFM since years! They just want to redo it, because its basics were developed even before DCS 1.5 and it gets more and more complicated to fix and troubleshoot the old FM code. If I remember correct, the Hawk was the first 3rd party module, besides Belsimtek, to have an EFM. Edit - or second, not sure about the MiG-21 early access release date. :dunno: They want to re-do it because the code is old, especially systems code, and w/ so many core elements in DCS Changing, it was hard to keep up, not to mention the code was written by a person that was no longer a member of the team, so trying to manage someone else's code can get a bit aggravating. At that point (changing core engine, and patching someone else's code constantly), it's easier to just re-write the code from scratch.
