AdmiralQuality
No, it will be 1 version, but I think the changes will be such that you can set it up as the older one if wanted. I still don't quite get it but as long as nobody's losing anything. Do we have any idea what the upgrade deal will be for owners of the V2 modules vs. those buying V3 new? bies
There is a line in the newsletter: As with A-10C Warthog 2, Ka-50 Black Shark 3 will replace the current Ka-50 Black Shark 2, but existing owners of Ka-50 Black Shark 2 will get a significant discount for version 3. I have nothing against paying for the new, more capable 2000s variant of Ka-50 but i would like to have also an older, current, 1990s variant for older scenarios and campaigns like Chechnya war. cheers

Turbo Shartz
I know it wasn't mentioned, but will there be an update to the standard pilot model? IMO, the pilot is an eye sore when trying to marvel at the beautiful modeling work done to the aircraft. One of my favorite things about the HB F-14B is the pilot model. It just rounds out the module as a whole. Also, the pilots appear small in scale. Other than that, I am looking forward to everything to come in 2020 with DCS! edit: added one more sentence

Lock-Os
I'm not too interested in the aircraft in the newsletter today to be honest. But I am looking forward to next week's post. I want to see what if any new ships, ground units and maps we are going to be getting coming up plus any new features in the core game. That being said... I am looking forward to what happens AFTER the F-16 and F-18 get finished.

Mars Exulte
Does it mean current variant will be removed? And only newer will be present in the game? And freeware upgrade? There will be two versions of A-10 and Ka-50. Just like there's two variants of P-51 and Spitfire each. You can select between them. No idea why people.are making this sound so complicated. You're not losing anything, nobody's taking anything away, and it's not a big deal. Your old airplane continues to work even if you don't buy the new one. It has no bearing on what other people are flying. We have two carriers, too, and they both work, old and new. SkipCarey
Well, I know where all my discretionary income will be going now in 2020.... wow! Thanks, ED and partners, for an amazing year, and what looks to be an even more amazing one to come. The Hind and the F15 are two of my favorite modern aircraft, so I'll be excited to see those mature over the next few years, for sure. Sorry for my lack of knowledge ....is the F15E the mud hen or the strictly Air to Air version ?

Eaglewings
That's not true according to NineLine's post:Oh, this seems like a special tab that allows you to select the upgrade features if you bought it. ED Team NineLine Posted January 3, 2020 Author ED Team Share Posted January 3, 2020 I'm not sure that's a good idea though. It would limit mission designer's ability to set up conflict era. I, as a mission designer, would like to have two aircraft in the mission editor: A-10C Suite X and A-10C Suite Y. And it seems like an easier thing to do than to implement special menu functions. Nobody said if we were getting a full suite update or not, this is why it's better to wait to see what the final feature list is, and then we will have more info on how it will all work. Sn8ke_iis
Best Newsletter Ever! Happy New Year everybody. And some of you guys need to check the newsletter and your math before complaining. So, Mariana Island is the secret map ? It looks amazing, but imo, it's pretty small. 388 square miles. About the size of L.A. ? Even smaller. LOL Disappointed 400 km x 400 km = 160,000 km squared 1 km = 0.62137119 248.54847689 x 248.54847689 = 61,776 square miles and some change. That's huge! oldcrusty
61,776 square miles and some change, of which 99,5% is water and 0,5% is land. Do not get me wrong, the map is awesome, but I like the facts straight. :D That's enough water for the Supercarrier. I hope it's leaving DCS drydock soon. AdmiralQuality
I'd have been thrilled with a free map that was nothing but water. Putting the Marianas in it is pure bonus. Best DCS news I've heard since I started flying it almost 4 years ago and very much appreciated.
