Problem maintaining EGT and crashing

Hi Guys

I love the UH1 sim! Never tried rotor in real life however I fly fixed wing for fun!

I seem to have engine blow outs every flight now! I’ve tried reducing the throttle and being gentle, however I feel the current system is to unforgiving! There is litterally no lift whatsoever now. My start up is text book and done to the letter. I have tried less loads / fuel etc and still the same.

Some help would be appreciated!

Cheers

Gary

fly in the cold.

only turn de icing on when the warning light turns on.

at -10 you have loads of EGT.

enough for out of ground effect hover with rockets and guns.

My Rig: AM5 7950X, 32GB DDR5 6000, M2 SSD, EVGA 1080 Superclocked, Warthog Throttle and Stick, MFG Crosswinds, Oculus Rift.

Fly at 80 knots or less, and dont expect to mount mini guns, rockets and doorgunners and still keep the performance of a slick.

Since the EGT implementation it is the first gauge I check on my regular sweep of the instruments.

Fly it within limits will not result in engine failure. One thing I did notice is pulling power to get into a hover causes the needle to spike. If you don't gain translational lift soon and reduce the torque needed to fly then you will have problems

You shouldn't be reducing the throttle, but managing the collective to keep the EGT below roughly 600 degrees. You can exceed that limit for takeoff and landing without problems. I have played some of the Argo campaign which involves flying a fairly heavy Huey and haven't had any major issues, even climbing over mountains, although it gets a bit butt-clenching sometimes.

I have tried everything! Just a severe lack of lift no matter what! I don’t think they have got it right with the EGT! If hat was the case there would be a crash every flight in real life!!

Made a mission with a hot LZ. Minimal fuel and load. When I pick up 4 troops the EGT spikes then engine failure! Surely hats not right!

Any help would be appreciated by the DEVS!

EGT's are a known issue and being worked on by BST :

Thank you guys for being involved! Our helicopter department specialists have an idea about what needs to be done for EGT tuning.

We would need to adjust changes after new DCS version will release, and so you would be able to try it as well. We will make announcement when changes will hit openbeta, and we think we will do same format and listen what you will say, like we did here in this thread.

Team developed solution which will include tune regarding torque and temperature. As soon as programmers will implement it it will go for patch.

Also task was created for fixing gauge green zone.

The fix implementation taking more time that we would want, but Huey engine needs some considerable changes for this new solution to be in place. We jumped on our engine programmers with this while they were in the middle of F/A-18C project, so now they are split between two tasks and not going really fast. We hope, that when F-18C will go early access, patch for Huey engine will also be close to completion.

Not sure what else there is to say ?

Add 'quote' from BST re: implementation delay

I’m flying other aircraft whilst awaiting the solution from BST. Right now, some of the campaign missions are a bit nuts.

System: 9700, 64GB DDR4, 2070S, NVME2, Rift S, Jetseat, Thrustmaster F18 grip, VPC T50 stick base and throttle, CH Throttle, MFG crosswinds, custom button box, Logitech G502 and Marble mouse.

Server: i5 2500@3.9Ghz, 1080, 24GB DDR3, SSD.

Hope they get he right settings soon! This is one of my favourite modules! I have spent a fair bit of time putting together a SF rescue mission with some great features! Can’t even finish it myself and I made it lol!

All the bitching aside! No other game matches the realism of DCS. It’s growing into what I dreamed of having when I was a kid!! The spectrum 128k and F16 combat pilot didn’t really cut it haha!

Odd I took the Huey out yesterday for over an hour and even with it's tendency to have higher EGT it still flies pretty well for me?

Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment.

Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above.

Currently rolling with a Asus Z390 Prime, 9600K, 32GB RAM, SSD, 2080Ti and Windows 10Pro, Rift CV1. bu0836x and Scratch Built Pedals, Collective and Cyclic.

I just took it out heavy in the Nevada free flight, full fuel, full weapons for nearly max weight. At least 6 takeoff and landings with lots of abusive maneuvering weaving throught the airport. Seemed fine to me. I couldn't lift off vertically, had to stay in ground effect until translational lift kicked in, but other than that she flew fine.

The takeoffs exceeded the 625C threshold but apparently not long enough to accumulate any damage.
