Huh? The joint project is the Hornet? I thought it was already near release? I was hoping the joint project to be something big and new such as a Korean War map....

Couple of things to keep in mind.

Bringing Belsimtek into the project could have been the result of numerous factors. One big one being the work they did on the AFM for the F-15C. (that may be the extent of their role)

We also don't know when, for sure, the exact lot number and features were decided. If you guys remember back to the original SS of the Ground Mapping Radar, that was simulating DBS. We now know that we are getting a Lot 20 aircraft which "should" include the APG-73 phase 2 with SAR capabilities.

That is only one feature that I can think of off the top of my head that may have resulted in the need of additional resources to complete the Hornet. For all we really know the Hornet was close to being done before they decided they would be able to go with a later version.

Ultimately, I hope it means we get it sooner rather than later.

Eagle Dynamics and belsimtek are like the same thing in different rooms, that's why they call it a "partner" instead of third party.

I would think that if they are partners then the whole "two heads are better than one" thing might apply and push things out quicker than if one or the other were working alone.

Not saying "give it to us sooner", clear that up before I get knifed in the phone booth, I was just saying that it would seem a likely scenario. As it is I never count on a release until I see it in, well, release lol.......

This is not surprising, and it actually makes sense.

The latest info we got was along the lines of there still being considerable work on both systems and flight modeling fronts. You need to remember it was Belsimtek who did the new flight model for F-15C in DCS for ED.

I am hoping this won't throw release of a possible Mi-24 back too much though .

Yeah, real puzzler that!

Of course, a really big project could be a subtle hint that they're working on the A380...

DCX - you heard it here first!
