So any guess how to force it to work on the other modules. Just got really used to it jumped back in the ka50 after a long absence and really miss them.

I thought it was something that had to be built into the module which is why I assumed it was a Belsimtek-only bonus feature - until I saw it on Polychop's Gazelle too!

It seems unlikely it's a general DCS feature that other developers just didn't enable. If it was built-in, you'd think ED of all people would be using it on their stuff! So, my guess is there isn't a way to force-enable this on other modules.

But I'd love to hear from the Belsimtek and/or Polychop guys on what the real story is.

Yes, it would be nice to know why this is the case.

It would also be beneficial if the older modules were brought up to spec with the newer ones. It seems that the newer ones all have the same key assignments for kneeboard control, but some older modules don't.

The Ka-50 is a case in point, where the change page assignment uses a RShift modifier, but the modern modules use the simple square bracket alone.

I appreciate this would probably mean having to change whatever the square brackets have been controlling in the Ka-50, but surely that would be worth it, for common control simplicity.

If anyone who still has the key commands on their options screen, could you go into the module's keyboard default.lua file, eg:
Code:
...\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Mi-8MTV2\Input\Mi-8MTV2\keyboard\default.lua
OR, find them in the keyboad.diff.lua file in
Code:
C:\Users\{username}\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\{aircraft}\keyboard
and then please paste out those key binds as it means others could add them in.

What's happening is that a lot of the modules used to define their own full default.lua, which was just a modified copy of the DCS World default one.
Recently there's been changes and a lot of luas (not all) now simply extend the common one by doing this at the top first:
Code:
local base = external_profile("Config/Input/Aircrafts/common_keyboard_binding.lua") join(base.keyCommands,{ blah blah blah
Obviously BST did a batch on the last patch.

I think what's happening is that lines for kneeboard marks was in the full blown distinct ones, but is missing from the common one, and therefore the functionality has been lost in the shift to use the common.

The real fix is to get ED to add them back into common_keyboard_binding.lua.

You could use a 2nd screen for the manuals ONLY.... It would be like a REAL kneeboard??

Yeah - did that already for years, but absolutely no use when you're in VR

Hence the KIF utility.

Thankfully, devs seem to be slowly catching on to its usefulness (the virtual kneeboard)
