PeterP
As it will be a DCS:World Add-on I would say its fairly the same as what you see in the beta. Sticky: What is DCS World? DCS:World is free and can be tested- a beta is included with the P-51D addon. Download it and look up the requirements here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=product&ProductId=18&end_pos=135&lang=en Edit: Here you are- Recommended system requirements: Operating system 64-bit: Windows Vista and 7; Processor: CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400, AMD Phenom X3 8750 or better; Memory: 4GB; Hard disk space: 7 GB; Video: Shader 3.0 or better; 896MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 DirectX 9.0c or better; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; DirectX: 9.0C; requires internet activation. Minimum system requirements: Operating system: Windows XP, Vista or 7; Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz; Memory: 3 GB; Free hard disk space: 7 GB; Video: 512 MB RAM card, DirectX 9 - compatible; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; requires internet activation. Nate--IRL--
BTW you can download DCS:-World for free - it is fully functional and has a free aircraft and is the required base module for DCS:Combined arms - you can check performance right now. As in can someone that is just interested in armor purchase this and control ground units online with others flying while not owning any of the current aircraft? EtherealN
If nothing else, you can tempt them into testing the Su-25T that comes with World. :) I'm fairly certain that obtaining a Combined Arms license will also make it possible to use the 25T from World in multiplayer. (The function is basically that obtaining any license will make it possible for you to login to the Master Server, and thus you can use all the things you have licenses for + the 25T online. :) ) I'm not 100% on that though, someone will hopefully correct me if I got this wrong. Yup, have thought of that as well, tried getting them into the Toad already, but without a purchased module and no multiplayer they weren't real keen, this could be a big break to getting more people into the world of DCS :) Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Gary
Just curious but what is the thinking behind making DCSW + Su25 free? Is it to broaden the market appeal or more a thank you to those who have supported ED since the early days? Gary
Nate, Good marketing strategy. On the subject of BS1 btw. On my payments tab on the main site it lists my A10c serial number but not my BS1 purchase (this just lists the title under previous purchases) I will be looking to update my BS1 to BS2 as soon as its compatible with DCSW and assume I might need my serial number?? If so how can I ge this? Happy to provide proof of previous BS1 purchase if necessary of course. Nate--IRL--
Strangely the Key for BS1 is only available on the Download page for BS1 after you have logged in. Not sure why this is the case. KiwiPete
You mean there was an English version! It serves as Hook/demo to get new users in. New users who then might purchase other DCS modules. EDIT:- Yeah I have a Russian version of BS1 too :) Nate  You mean they had other language options for BS1! Great I'm fluent in English and Bad English....:) Science doesn't have all the answers...but at least it's asking the right questions! Purg
Just on system requirements.. I have a reasonably well specced machine. i7@4.2GHz, 2x570's and 16GB RAM. If I create a fast mission with all unit options maxxed (which I would probably do under CA) I just about halve my FPS when I'm sitting in the cockpit of my A-10. Is the drop in FPS due to having to render so many units, the CPU having to deal with the AI action of those units or both? If I were to create a server on another machine and connect as a client, would that offload some of the CPU utilisation and potentially increase my framerate? Also has the potential of creating a mini-war which I would presume you could drop in at will if you are able to spawn aircraft. Only have a BS2 upgrade so I'd try it myself but don't have a key to register, sadly.
