Nealius
It's been reported by myself and at least one or two other people in addition to this thread, and there's been no acknowledgement from ED yet.
twistking
This is a desaster! Static weather causes performance problems, is not mp friendly and has clouds dissapearing, while dynamic weather is a pain to set up and comes with flickering. So daytime, clear sky aviation until it finally gets patched in 2021?! bump again. this is one of the biggest shortcomings of dcs... discwalker
Now I joined the water flickering suffering club. I recorded a short video in Batumi region, with very similar flickering to the opening post's video. water in high, FPS average 15 because of the crowded Aerobatic Online server with high ping players 2.5.4.30386 +with su-33 in cockpit Edited June 2, 2019 by discwalker + GTX 1070 8GB, 16GB DDR3, W8.1 on SSD, DCS on another SSD
Nealius
The other component we're forgetting here is the issue only persists INSIDE the cockpit.. so it has something to do with cockpit glass AND dynamic weather reflections   I have recently experienced it in the A-10C as well, so it seems to be an in-cockpit issue with all modules regardless of whether they have the "shaders" (or whatever they're called) for raindrops and such. Nealius
I've noticed a new quirk with this bug. If you have dynamic weather with clouds and fog, the fog flickers just like the water does. Even if the fog is over land.
discwalker
Proof in 2.5.5.32533 Quite often happening on Aerobatics Online Caucasus Release and OpenBeta servers around Batumi and around Sochi-Gudauta-Sukhumi. I once flied with company, my wingman experienced the water flickerings too in the Hornet cockpit, my plane was Su-25A. (Senaki to Sochi then back to Sukhumi.) Yes, weather is dynamic. This time I attached a single player clone track. With all triggers removed. aerobaticsOnlOBclone-waterflickering-SP2.trk https://drive.google.com/open?id=1yQ2aHJJgpInQ3lQ4rt26WOIq1v2VQwe0 aerobaticsOnlOBclone-waterflickering-SP-Settings.jpg https://drive.google.com/open?id=1A5Ncj0BuLSrByP-Khc875X53NhAjy3au My eyes are ready for the upcoming fix. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted July 8, 2019 ED Team Share Posted July 8, 2019 Hi all, thanks for the PM's, I have only been able to reproduce this using discwalkers above track, when I try to reproduce with a simple mission and dynamic weather I don't see the problem which is strange. I have reported this to the team to have a look at, hopefully they will find the cause. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Wizard1393
Don't know if anyone posted about this yet. But this seems to be a problem with a specific nVidia driver version. Updated my driver to 430.86 (there an even newer one now) and the problem went away. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted July 11, 2019 ED Team Share Posted July 11, 2019 Good to hear it is solved for you. I have just doubled checked, I was able to reproduce this bug with 430.86, and I have checked again this morning with 431.36 and I am still able to see the flicker on the sea. Did you change anything else? Forum rules - DCS Crashing? EDIT: Since it seems to have worked for me I would still recommend people trying it. Wizard1393
I tested discwalkers track and I notice no flickering at first when approaching the sea. But when the flight turns south/left/batumi direction I see flickering again sadly. Very subtle, but it's there. Also only in cockpit view, not in external. So apparently I was wrong. Scoggs
I am getting this issue on the Aerobatics Online server in the Hornet specifically. All water near the coast seems to have this issue, but it goes away as you head out to sea. Any movement on a possible fix or workaround? If I was playing on my monitor it wouldn’t be such a big deal, but the flicker messes with my Index’s reprojection causing the cockpit to jump around making the experience very uncomfortable. mono6020
same here. extreme water flickering in vr with htc vive. water set to high and dynamic weather (moderate winds). big patches of sea flicker very intense. makes it hard to fly over water below 30k feet, degrades anti ship capability and carrier landings significantly. using nvidia driver 391.35 on gtx1080ti Edited September 9, 2019 by mono6020

davewhite
I have an interesting scenario: I run DCS on two machines. Both I7's. One has a 1070 with 16gb ram and the other a 1080ti with 32gb ram. DCS on SSD's for both machines. Same 430.53 Nvidia driver on both. Only the machine with the 1080ti card has the flickering. I set the Nvidia setting as well as in game settings exactly the same on both machines, yet only one has the flickering from inside the cockpit with dynamic weather.
