Yup work has begun on it although very preliminary work at the moment.

More news will be revealed on the progress of this towards the end of the year :)

I for one am really looking forward to getting some Griffon power into DCS!

I'm also looking forward to the Griffon's roar. There's not much good I can say about War Thunder, but the sound of their Mk. XIVe is a joy, from low to high revs. If you match it I (and my subwoofer!) will be absolutely happy. If you surpass it, you are magic!

Well the intention is to have sound equipment about 10ft from a real one as source for the sim :)

Will you be able to record from multiple angles? And will DCS support the different sounds from different angles?

How about sound vs engine load rather than just RPM too?

Yes to multiple angles including internal, It's my intention to do some power runs as much as is safe on the ground with co-operation from the operator.

With a variety of settings which we can record, we have a specialist sound engineer to blend them and get the most out of it including some special pressure proof microphones so the recordings don't distort ;)

It would be great if you could record the sounds of both the outside and inside of the cockpit in flight. I really get the sense when reading about the Dora and other WWII aircraft that there should be alot more noise and vibrations in these aircrafts.

Alot of the noise your describing are pressure waves caused by air speed and the prop turbulence.

Getting outside sounds on the ground isn't too bad. Inside sounds during flight again isn't too bad but outside during flight is wrecked with problems.

Don't worry though we have a couple of very good guys on the case and bar pressure waves and reverb which we cant replicate with current tech very easily it will be pretty immersive

Agreed. In today's digital (post)production the actual recordings are only a starting point. The crucial point is that the sound engineer has an exact picture (from real life experience) of what he wants to achieve. And then he needs to CREATE that, for every RPM and situation. A good sound engineer is a creative artist. I'm really l looking forward to take your Spit into the Normandy skies...

Anyway, for the best sound immersion a flightsimmer will need something like the Buttkicker (apart from a subwoofer, of course).

Can AMD's TrueAudio be used to assist, at least in reverb acoustics?
