Windowed Mode at a lower resolution - can't click the virtual cockpit

Hi guys,

This has been happening pre 2.5 for me for quite some time but FPS and playability made me to want to go from 4K to 1080p non-native resolution for my display.

Now, I am trying to run windowed mode here and hitting alt-enter quickly and easily makes it full-screen with 1080p resolution.

I am quite happy with the FPS and everything, but when I do so, my cockpit becomes unclickable. It seems there is some sort of "offset" going on and the coordinates just don't line up.

Switching on the Fullscreen mode does make this problem go away but then it takes a few seconds of black screen as my monitor or GPU switches from native to non-native resolution and this is pretty much unacceptable.

Is there any way to play at a lower-resolution in "windowed fullscreen"?

Been discussed a lot here over time. Sadly no resolution to this irritating issue.

Yes, alt-enter can cause the non clickable cockpit when playing at a lower than native res as the screen shifts into a position equivalent to the game res within the native res, but the game is still showing a full screen lower res. I’m not explaining that well, but for example, an in-game 2560x1440 would shift to the top left quarter of a native 5120x2880 screen.

It seems that no one wants to fix this ongoing, very irritating problem.

Well, at least I know it's not me. It's a real shame because my 980Ti is stuggling to get above 40 FPS on 4K...

It shouldn’t happen all the time.

Just select ‘full screen’ in options. Most of the time, that’ll work, giving you a FS 1080p. The problem is when it doesn’t go into genuine full screen - I can tell, because I see screen tearing - then it is necessary to do alt-enter. Occasionally, this produces the effect we’ve been talking about.

A restart of DCS resolves it.
