Hello,

When I went on MP, firing either of these toward ships resulted in them being lost. Whether they hit each other or the sea am unsure as hitting F6 resulted in them gone already.

Version: 2.5.4

Cheers

Maybe you released them outside of their release parameters? Too low?

Without a track file there isn't really a way to find out what's wrong there. They work fine for me.

Can't upload track file as too big. However, was released as normally do.

First set of RB04s released fine and killed two ships. But upon landing and rearming, they then didn't.

Anything to do with this?

Hello, I'm going to bump this thread with a problem which I am not sure is related or not. It seems that, for RB-15s if you set Bx8 using the radar for automatic and then edit Bx7 and Bx6, the missiles will not launch.

This only happens if you edit those two waypoints and try to move them.

Furthermore, if you use map markers or input Bx7 and Bx6 manually, they will indeed launch but will have strange behavior as they follow that path.

For instance, several times my RB-15s will ignore the parameters for Bx7 and not decrease altitude to skim the water for its attack run, resulting in them flying over the ship. Several other cases resulted in them simply disappearing, self-destructing in middair. Setting only Bx8 results in normal behavior from the missiles.

Anyone else have these problems after manually editing Bx7 and Bx6? Keep in mind, this is taking into account that Bx6 has to be closer than Bx7, and putting them in a perfectly straight line on the radar scope.

I have been playing some multiplayer in the last couple of days trying to hit ships especially with the RB-15.

Mainly in the 107th Through the inferno server.

First case is the port of Novorossiysk.

In the bay of Novorossiysk there are multiple ships placed which shoot me down if I come close. So I have been trying to take them out.

Everytime I get an RB15 inside the bay they will zigzag between the ships and end up on the shore in a 90 degree angle on either side if the bay. See attahced image from mission editor for placement of ships and where my missiles go.

I have been doing this in both NAV mode and ANF with Bx8 in the bay.

Also there has been similar issues as the OP.

Sometimes I launched both missiles in series and there is only one missile to be seen flying towards the target.

The second case is a 4 ship formation out at sea in a diamond formation.

If I use series launch with 800001(Multiple targets N, 1 of 3) or 800002(Multiple targets A, all available targets) then only the first missile will hit the first target. The second one will change course and fly between the rest of the ships.

The only way to hit 2 ships with 2 missiles is to make a radar fix for Bx8 on the ship I want to sink and then fire one missile in Impulse.

Then do another fix on another ship and fire the next missile.

This is done in STD mode to select single taregt closest to Bx8.

It´s a bit frustrating to go on a deep strike only to see the missiles do everything to avoid the ships you want to sink.

What is the final attack heading of the missile? For grupp mode to work there have to be three ships in depth. From the figure it looks like the missile might not see three ships in depth.

The missiles heading is straight in the bay aprox along my yellow line.

But I´m not sure it has to be 3 deep for the RB15?

Can´t find any specific about that in the manual.

But that is not the issue here I think because the last run from where I made the picture, I fired them in NAV mode quick release. It should lock on to first target.

Hmm, you are probably right. The manual says "Missile will determine a group of ships that are within 3 km of each other. From this group, a target is selected at random." It does not speak of the ships being three deep as with the rb04.

For quick mode it indeed locks on to the first target it finds, at least according to the manual.

So I guess the rb15f is not working properly atm?

Did you check the bx7 and bx9 waypoints? They are not always ok, especially if you change the bx8 after an automatically generated bx8. The red light indicates that either bx9 is too close to bx8 or the placement of bx7 is such that the missile heading change is too large.

Made another atemp today on the bay at novo on Through the inferno server.

This time I used RB15 in ANF and set Bx6,7,8,9.

Used impuls and STD.

Fired one missile into the bay and it actively avoided the ship then turned 90 degree to the left and hit the shore again.

I think the only setup I haven´t tried is masking of the sides of the search cone.

I am having serious issues with the RB15 missile. I am in single player, on 2.5.3 release version.

I tried to duplicate xxJohnxx attack training mission, from his You Tube channel.

Entering the Lo/LA for the Bx8 position and pre entering the Bx6, Bx7 and Bx 9 in the mission planner.

I can not get the Bx8 waypoint to input.

I then tried a basic attack with manually entering the Bx8 spot on the target ships, but there was no Bx6, Bx7 or Bx 9 waypoints made by the system? I could not get the missiles to arm or fire?

Moreover, when approaching the M waypoint, there is no attack symbology on the HUD and the missiles will not fire?

All was OK with this back in April last year when I was flying the Viggen. Seems like going back to it is causing some difficulties for me?

The RB04 is ok, just the RB 15 seems not to work anymore. Certainly following xxJohnxx videos does no longer work. His videos were done over a year ago also.

So I have been testing this problem today on SP and a test mission I made with 8 ships inside the novo bay. 2 where the same type of cruisers that exists on Throught the inferno server.

I can sink those ships everytime on SP with the RB15.

I can´t find any problems in SP, the RB15 works as intended.

I looked into the trk file from TTI server and found an advanced waypoint action on the ships, they had Invisible(on) task attached.

I don´t exactly know what that do but if I duplicate the setting on my test mission nothing really happens. I can still hit those ships.(*Edit* It only makes the ships invisible to enemy AI units)

I also saved the track from the multiplayer folder to a mission and tested it locally in SP.

There are some scripting that doesn´t work by doing so but I could start the mission and still sink those ships.

So I don´t know if it is some scripting on the server that do something with those ships or if it is some MP issue with the RB15.

I have been testing on both SP and MP now with the RB15 and this is how I can make the Bx points work and also sink 2 ships. (unless it´s the ship in Novorossiysk bay according to my posts above)

1. On MP I only get a target Lo/La so I make a navigation input for minimum LS, M1 and L1

2. Set Imp and Std for the RB15 mode

3. Take off and fly to target skimming the waves at 10-20m.

4. When 120km from target I popup to 3-500m and activate radar.

5. Wait for the radar to pick up the ships.

6. Press Bx8 (nothing appears on radar) and make sure Waypoint display show the Bx8.

7. Press T1 to make a radar fix. Now it shows on the radar. Move the crosshair to the ship I want to sink.

8. Press TV to set Bx8

9. Now do the same for Bx7 and Bx6 so they are on the right pos from your target.

10. Switch back to M1(target waypoint)

11. Dive back to sea skimming and wait for the target to become inrange(70km)

12. Set Anf mode and fly up to aprox 100m alt.

13. Unsafe and fire one missile.

14. Safe

15. Press Bx8 and make another fix for another ship. (Because we are in STD mode it finds the closest ship at Bx8.)

16. Unsafe and fire the last RB15.

I have had some issues in MP that you sometimes cannot choose Bx8 as waypoint if it is not set from the start. When this happens it selects waypoint B2 instead. Same with Bx6,7,8 and 9 at this moment.

When this happens I need to input Lo/La to Bx6,7,8,9. I then input the same Lo/La as the target waypoint and after that make radarfixes on Bx8, 7, 6 and 9 in that order.

I think this might have something to do with me not having av L1 waypoint from the start but I´m not sure.

I tried xxjohnsxx mission again and found it's my mission planner selection of Bx6, bx7 and bx9, that appears to be inaccurate. Also firing the RB90 at an angle off the BX 8 doesn't work as John showed in his video. I have to be lined up with the BX 8 point. In his video he fires the missiles at 90 degrees to his M waypoint and 90degrees to the Bx6, bx7 and bx9? I can't duplicate that.

So I don't use the mission planner waypoints and stick to locating the target ships by radar. Inputting the LoLa coords into the ck 35 computer does work, on the fly, but I find the best method is to locate the target ships on the radar and place the bx8 over it. Then do what you do, low level till in range, pop up and fire.

Funnily enough I prefer the RB04, with the mission planner target selection of 1st and 2 ND targets prioritised.

I just uploaded a You Tube video with a little demo!

Cheers.

Never tried it before but worked quit well for me. Attached is a quick and dirty test mission and a track file showing me flying that mission(both in the latest OpenBeta).

Edit: After the first RB15 sinked the target ship the second RRB15 is turning away for selfdestruction(working like intended?)

The post above was for Accipiter as he tried to use the BX6..9 points within the ME, i tried that and it worked, thats why i posted the track/mission above, in case he want to take a look/try for himself.

I fly SP most of the time, i tried a MP Server and had no problems to set my BX8 point with the Radar, see attached picture. But i encountered some problems with the RB-15 in another MP test today and SP too. For example trying to select BX8 and getting B2 displayed without being able to set a BX point with my Radar, like you also mentioned. I'm not sure yet what is the cause for that, could be something to do with the F-10 marks for the custom data cartridge? I have to test this some more.

Some questions for you:

- If you try the RB15 in SP, do you start hot on the runway or cold on ramp?

- Do you use the F10 marks for route planing?

Also i made a little test mission placing 12 to 20 ships in the Novorossiysk bay, all my RB15 are always going for the ships(tested in SP), so i can't reproduce your problem with your RB15 going wild there. Could you please post your test mission where you can reproduce that problem? Also a track would be great, i would try to reproduce on my end or to help finding the problem if possible.

Hello unknown.

I think maybe most of this post was for me as I was the one testing against Novorossiysk bay.

-I have always started cold from ramp. (unless coming in from a sortie and reloaded.)

-For the route planning I have tested different types of planning.

Either just loaded the defautl cartridge and then input La/lo for target area. Then either done La/lo for bx points or just made them inflight with radar fix.

I have also made manual route planning on F10 map and loaded that cartridge. Then the same with Bx as above.

About the RB15 going wild, I cannot reproduce that other then flying on the MP server.

All test missions I made in SP works as the RB15 sinks the ships.

I have not had time to test the issue with B2 appearing instead of Bx points anymore. But I think that maybe I hace done manual route planning in F10 and forgot to set L1. But I´m not sure about that one.

It´s just that to test the RB15 on the MP server you need time. It´s a deep strike mission and the flying time is long.

  • 2 weeks later...

I was testing this again.

First Track viggen_no_BX_RB15:

- I'm doing a cold start up with ground power and mark points on the F10 map

- after takeoff i'm setting my Rb15 to 800002 and try to set my BX points

But as soon as i click BX and then 8 my Waypoint switches from M2 to B2 and i can't set my BX point, aborted the mission after that.

Second Track viggen_BX_RB15:

- I'm doing a cold start up without ground power and without setting any mark points on the F10 map, just using the default DC

- after Takeoff i'm setting my RB15 to 800002 and can then setup my BX points without problems

What am i doing wrong? Or what is different between these two methods that it once results in "useless" RB15(could not fire them in ANF, but works in NAV) and the second time everything works like expected?
