Because of how obviously broken they are on the Polychop's Gazelle Mistral module

 

Both in animation and - much more annoyingly - performance

 

To the point it has inspired one artist :

That missile is still doing over 1000kts at 17000' shot straight up. It's over performing egregiously, you don't need any source other than comparison to other MANPADS to realise that is a photon torpedo :D

Yes, it should have more range, but this behaviour is simply absurd.

Interestingly, in the Red Flag Campaign by Baltic Dragon, the Gazelles firing Mistrals chop you and your entire flight, if you go at them with Magic's and cannon!:music_whistling:

 

You can't get a decent lock with your Magic's before the whirly birds kill your entire flight. The only way I could progress was to let the Hogs do the killing with their Sidewinders.

 

BD knows about the problem and cleverly built a way for the Hogs to come to the rescue. It's a very entertaining mission, your pride being battered thinking that a bunch of Whirly Birds can kill your battle hardened fighters!:megalol:
