nevada air pressure

Recommended Posts

Hello,

i noticed unexpected air pressures when loading various default weather presets from the editor.

i assume that the dcs engines sets air pressure at sea level, but nevada is set quite high above sea level.

so, if i look up real world air pressure for f.e. las vegas, this would be measured at ground level in las vegas, right?

to have the same value in dcs missions, i would have to go a little bit higher, since the engine expects a theoretical value at sea level?

is this correct, or did i mix sth. up?

thx

Yes static weather pressure is sea level pressure.

Remember that altimeter setting is not what your local air pressure is. It is "the setting which makes your altimeter read the desired number." For example QNH at the top of Mount Everest might be 29.92" Hg even though the air is very thin up there.

QFE is different and closer to local air pressure but still it isn't the same. It's just "the setting which makes the gauge read zero when you are at that place." It's not identical to local air pressure.
