The Acer looks interesting, although I still am struggling with the Reverb not having any physical IPD adjustment. Surely there must be more to this than we know at the moment. I can't believe that HP would allow this design unless the software adjustment was a good enough alternative.

Default HP's Reverb VR Pro Headset

not everything HP produces is designed by the same 4 people.

and some managers use different calculations for target market and product viability.

and almost everything in engineering is a compromise.

simply put, it’s more likely they can sell more units with a lower price and no IPD adjustment.

If you read their press release they believe their lens systems with its very wide "Sweet spot" will accommodate most users, hence no physical IPD adjustment.

I wonder if there is some kind of review embargo in place for the reverb, it's due out in a couple of weeks and it has been pretty quiet since the release announcement.

Yeah I have seen very little, though at this point I'm also gonna wait on the index, and whatever the acer thing is too.

The Valve Index still has most of my attention.

Yeah, their lens patent is interesting, double fresnel! So in theory a wider "clean" spot for FOV. Which HP claim as well.

Same displays as on Reverb so you can get the picture how sharp and crisp will be.

Any more news on the reverb?

Since my card blew on Friday and I can't get RMA approval till Tuesday because the offices are shut over the Easter weekend, it looks like the reverb will be available before I get a new GPU delivered from the vendor and I think I will likely pull the trigger on the Reverb.

A long weekend without my PC is tough, although I fear I have somewhat overcompensated with my alcohol intake.

Beer makes most things better.

I have been checking every couple of days for Reverb news and it has been almost silent across the whole internet since the first reveal at the end of March. The only significant thing that has come out since was the Tested article.
I'm leaning mostly towards the Reverb, but there are too many other possibilities coming this summer to just pull the trigger at the first opportunity, however tempting it might be. I just wish they would get their fingers out and release all the gen 1.5 HMDs and be done with it, then we could just buy the one we like best without all this confusion and speculation.
