As you see people you are buying a museum relic when you buy the Mig-21.

 

 

 

If you are cool with that, go right ahead!

 

 

 

But be warned! Its not a functional beast of a fighter. Its janitors running the maintanance so shit is going to stop working or not work at all.... forever and ever.........

Attitude aside, you are far from any truth regarding our financials.

 

Look at those reflections! Oh, it must be the camera angle (

I would love to have a canopy glass like that in DCS MiG-21:

1. There is no 2 inches of black goo around the edges of the canopy, including the periscope

2. The reflections are sharp and crisp, totally opposite to DCS MiG-21 which glass looks like regularly "cleaned" with a sanding paper. On top of that it’s actually still possible to see through the reflections as the glass doesn’t become a not-transparent milk.

3. And yes the reflections are pronounced due to camera angle effect. Pure physics, the reflections on the left side of the canopy are bigger due to the small view angle. They are almost not visible on the right side (as far as we can see due to the view being obstructed by the pilot head).

 

I really don’t understand if the current version of cockpit is so important, why we can’t have two different versions like already mentioned in case of Mi-8. Just do the textures as they are in F-5 or pretty much every other DCS module – copy, paste, adjust. Name the option “super unrealistic clean option made due to whining on forum for those without an artistic soul” and call it a day.

Just give the players an option in the special tab and all this noise about the canopy goes away. Surely it can't be that hard.

and if it is too hard i am sure people from the community are more than happy to help the janitors.

'controlling' the Ka50 feels like a discussion with the Autopilot and trim system about the flight direction.

The MiG-21 still is one of my favourite rides.

 

I find this whole conversation about canopy dirt well overblown.

BUT, I have to say yes, the canopy is a little too dirty.

 

Rudel, couldn't you have shown some videos or pictures of a MiG-21 with the type of canopy wear and dirt as depicted in your module?

Instead you show us a Yak, a completely different airframe, with a "scratched, cracked and dirty" canopy, that to be honest, isn't even that bad.

Just contact this guy and make this into an extra official cockpit livery and this "dirt and smudge" issue will be resolved. Since uboats chinese livery got accepted, I cannot see why this would not.

Thats look nice but I dont have anything against the wear and tear inside the cockpit. Looks good and as an aircraft that been used for 1000h or more BUT still being used and fully operational!

 

Its the really sloppy canopy work that the devs think is "looking good" or something....

 

 

But as they, by them self, have chosen to look upon their own roll in this, they are janitors at a museum and DCS is a museum simulator! :megalol:

I'm having an issue where I cannot get a radar lock on an MQ-9 drone. I tested against other targets like the C-17 and F-117 (to see if low radar cross section was the culprit) and both resulted in positive locks. I was able to acquire and lock both a C-17 and a F-117 with the MiG's radar, but for some reason whenever I try to lock the MQ-9 the radar locks for about 0.1 seconds and then unlocks immediately.

It's going slow so it think the target is chaff and rejecting it. Disable chaff rejection with the LST filter button. The passive filter button light should light up when it rejects track based on perceived passive countermeasures.

Is not just a "little too dirty", is impossible to see anything unless you use Oculus and put your head out the canopy. I did a test yesterday, was training against AV-8B and Viggen and they saw me and shot me down all times, then, I ejected the canopy and reduce the audio volume, flying very low to see any enemy 30 degrees above me, and my sides, it works!, I killed them all in dogfight from that moment, so thats the solution!

 

1- Eject the canopy

2- Reduce external audio volume

3- Don't waste your time waiting for the developers

Right now the Devs biggest hater is his own pride which has pushed him into a corner he feels he cant get out of. In my opinion.

 

Rudel, as many other have said, ignore the ugly pride monster staring you down and just give us the option of a clean canopy at least. You probably already have it.

 

Using mods which have to be installed/updated with every DCS update (and often redone after the original modders move on) is not ideal.

 

Honestly its such a simple thing...

If you're in a business - and it should be obvious that as soon as you start taking someones money it's a business, you should consider yourself not only as a specialist (developer) but a manager and a business man, responsible for taking your business seriously and managing the customer expectations and satisfaction.

I'm not really happy and don't feel satisfied with saying that but in case of MiG-21 a results of a lot of good work like the recent cockpit overhaul is lost because of something really small, not worth insisting on like aligning the canopy glass with the rest of the DCS modules.

 

Something as a side note but interesting to consider is how hard is it to get and maintain customer loyalty and how valuable such customers are as that will actively promote the product. Contrary consider how easy it is to create detractors which not only are not satisfied them self but actively spread around their dissatisfaction.

Jumped into MiG21 yesterday, after reading this thread. Yes way too dirty, no mod is not a solution. For example, try using clean canopy & english cockpit and suddenly everything is not as easy anymore.

 

 

Please give us a special tab option for this atleast.

I was the Viggen in that training and I fly the mig-21 also, the diference btw the viggen cockpit glass and the mig-21 dirty glass is huge!!!, So, please, give us the option to have a clean cockpit glass.

The answer should be in the special tab. The options should be custom cockpit livery: Default, Chinese, English - Metric, English - Metric Clean.

 

So all we have to do is create a new fourth custom cockpit livery entry.

 

What I did was this:

1. Copy \DCS World\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Liveries\Mig-21_CP\English - Metric to \DCS World\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Liveries\Mig-21_CP\English - Metric - Clean

 

2. Copy 4 files *.tga from available clear cockpit mod to copied directory in step 1.

 

3. Change 'true' to 'false' in description.lua of 4 lines which mention the 4 files names copied in step 2.

 

4. Select "English - Metric - Clean" from special menu in DCS World options.
