Pikey
Paratroopers is definitely by far the hidden gem in that post because of what it means tothe rest of DCS World. WW2 assets dont have helicopters or scripting relevant to do any capturing operations by air and if there are no helis or airborne troops then you cannot have any paratrooping operations for WW2 maps. Which is kindda missing out on a lot of exciting missions, notwithstanding the actual historic drops. It's pretty much CTLD for WW2. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
Andy1966
the torpedoes on the JU-88 are noteworthy also, as well as the searchlights and V-1 :) We are Virtual Pilots, a growing International Squad of pilots, we fly Allies in WWII and Red Force in Korea and Modern combat. twistking
How will the searchlight work? Specifically how will it work with AI Flak? From my understanding searchlight batteries gave two advantages to heavy Flak units: Firstly illuminating the target and making it visible at all, but secondly and properly also very importantly allowing triangulation of target position (especially altitude) by illuminating it with three light from different, known locations. Very much looking forward to this new feature!!! ps: Will the effects still get tweaked? The cone of light looks too bright for clear weather. Might also prove very problematic with Aliasing (hard contrast, straight lines). Better to make it softer in the first place... Andy1966
wow this is welcome, Imagine Mossie pathfinders at night with flares lighting the target for the bombers, with search lights, flak and night fighters.... IronJockel
Has there been some improvement with pathfinding on the Normandy map? Last time I tried tanks got stuck as soon as they had to drive through a village. I am not sure if this is a map or asset thing. msalama
a map or asset thing Not sure really. All AI ground units seem to manage Caucasus pretty well, but the other maps cause them all manner of problems, such as driving into buildings then getting stuck, etc. Is an old problem too BTW, was reported ages ago already when NTTR was first released. Alas, no word from ED so far. The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
Zimmerdylan
Not sure really. All AI ground units seem to manage Caucasus pretty well, but the other maps cause them all manner of problems, such as driving into buildings then getting stuck, etc. Is an old problem too BTW, was reported ages ago already when NTTR was first released. Alas, no word from ED so far. And it's still wreaking havoc on the NTTR map. Much as I hate to say it, I have pretty much lost faith that much of this will ever get fixed. I've gone from flying DCS 2 or 3 times a week to maybe once a month. I usually get so frustrated with all of the issues that I just give up and get off. My faith in ED is at an all time low. Creating missions is a nightmare because of all of the issues with M.E. Assets pack seems to have been a bad purchase as there is little to nothing to it at this point. And yes I see all of the pretty images of all of the great "stuff to come" in the news letters. It really sucks that the only time I can comment on this simulator that I use to love so much it to report issues or agree with other's complaints. I use to praise E.D.

philstyle
The goal is still this year, but I don't have anything more specific than this. ^^ September 2019 That was when the August 2019 deadline was missed. That 2019 end-of-year deadline was then missed. Late in 2019, we hard that Q1 2020 was now the planned delivery date. Q1 2020 has passed. We are still waiting for the August 2019 WW2 assets pack update, more than half a year later. See my comment from September 2019: Somewhat? Are we talking October?, or Mid 2020? (order of magnitude for "somewhat" would be nice) We are now really in worst-case-prediction territory. . . I really thought I was picking a ridiculous time frame with that comment. Can I ask if we are really ever going to see the Ju88, A20, the Dakota and the other promised AI aircraft? . I am not gonna try and guess times right now, but I know the x-ray models are being done for the Ju88 and A20 currently. Sorry guys, I wish I had more news about timing, but it seems pointless to guess right now. I will try and get some better estimates. The 88 was shown and highlighted in recent trailers as well as the A-20 (in the virus sale video) so I guess they are coming but it is demoralizing how ED drop news in the newsletter or trailers and then goes dead silent.
