i7-7700

32GB DDR4

AMD RX480

480 GB SSD

For the time being, I want to run fairly high settings at 1080p, no VR. I would like to be able to upgrade GPU eventually. From what I have read, its a good time to wait on that for next gen hardware.

Your thoughts, please?

Wait...David, I didn't notice the one you posted has 16GB ram. I thought going to 32GB was an important part of getting the best performance...? Would the one you posted be upgradeable?

What about this one:

Decisions Decisions

16GB vs 32GB from what I've experienced. When playing multiplayer having more ram is better, single player not noticed much of a difference.

2070 super vs 2060 super. My line is not under the 2070 super and possible light duty VR would be ok and Mid to high settings @ 1440P 2K, max settings @1080p) I ran on the old 1070 and it was very playable @1440.

i7-9700K vs i9-9900K

(16M Cache, up to 5.00 GHz) vs (12M Cache, up to 4.90 GHz)

GPU is around $100 difference

https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?N=100007709%20601341631%20601341616

i9-9900K $500

i7-9700K $400

Most motherboards will take at least 64GB of ram. So yes can be upgraded, it's recommend to by a new set (32 GB Kit) of ram. Not add to the 16 GB. Some still do it an can be fine I guess....

That's why many of us build these systems from parts. To get a better bang for the $. Plus these guy's put average motherboards and pc power supply in their systems to save a dollar. That money we save go's on the high end of those parts. We don't save it, we just have a better system over all and can squeeze out 20%+ more performance generally having those better parts. CPU ---> RAM ---> GPU---> Motherboard --> (Power Supply) all tied into together nicely for max stable performance.

Thanks David. Im thinking of going to a small shop I know and seeing what they can put together. I'd rather not do business with BB, really.

You can save money with the case and fans, keyb and mouse etc.. dont cut corners on motherboard cpu and gpu, those are hard to replace. Better a 2nd mouse n keyboard on the shelf as a2nd set than a dust collecting mobo or GPU.

Tell us what they said and we will counter check that offer ;)

16GB of ram is at the edge. IMO the CPU and RAM are the most important because GPU is most easily replacible/upgradable, however VRAM amount still matters, a GPU with the highest VRAM is also the best even if it's performance may not be it should matter that much since DCS isn't about the bleeding edge of cinematics (even tho it's trying to up the fidelity which I certainly welcome)

Ofcourse after Vulkan API hits it may enable lower CPUs to do as good of a job but still the simulation will take it's toll far higher than other games.
