Not telling you how to run your house, but. It seems that there are some truly great mods for DCS. The French Pack comes to mind. Since these guys are already working for free, why not use them? I know you have previously stated that moders need to submit there work to you, and that makes since. But maybe put a subsection here on the forums detailing exactly what they should do and how. It seems a good way to expand the core content, while keeping a good eye on quality. Just a thought.

There is a path to submit work already. People who are into doing that know how to do it whether you personally do or not. This is a business, video game or not, and there are legal precedents they have to follow to incorporate something into their commercial work, 90% of what's out there won't be up to meeting those requirements.

You most often see community skins making it into ED's release. But there is a huge license/legal issue on some 3D model work obtained either for free or paid for. Genuinely home spun 3D models have also made it into the game - various asset packs, the Czech arty and such, but planes it becomes more difficult, and as projects go on, they take a design step not fitting into ED's workflow. You can't simply say to another developer, "here's this chaps work, he wants you to have it, now make it to ED standards"! Often they are not built the right way for ED standards for very particular reasons and take more work to unpick or add something to that leaves them having to work on an asset that isnt in their developer cycle of planning and detract from existing projects.

Sure I can hand over a beautifully modelled, even up to ED standards 3D model and say... "Hey ED this is for free, put it into the game" and they say, "Thanks, but we aren't working on a Eurofighter right now, you've left the gear animations undone, we have to change the IRST code to work with this specification and do some research on modern IRST, the flaps animation isnt using our standard arguments as of 2020, the poly count isnt right, you've done no LODS, we haven't modelled any AESA radars yet in game and need to create game wide code for that, there's no code for the missiles and there's no lua done for any of it and it will take three different people time out of their existing work schedule a total of 21 man days just to get included and we simply are packed with our current schedules."

Anyone can PM Wags and begin that discussion, he's always listening, no need for complex requirements, although they have been explained in places where intellectual rights are conceerned. Those conversations occur in private because they are delicate.
