DCS World Hornet is an F/A-18C or F/A-18C+?

Hey guys I’ve been curious as to what capabilities we are getting are standard in the Lot 20 F/A-18C Hornet and what are after market upgrades.

I’m guessing the JHMCS and 9X capability are upgrades as Legacy Hornet production ended in the late 90’s. But what other capabilities and systems are native to the Lot 20 Hornet vs later upgrades?

I have seen this post many many times what I am curious about is if the jet when it is feature complete is a F/A-18C or F/A-18C+ and what capabilities come standard from the factory for lot 20 Hornets and what is an upgrade to the jet.

Aside from the JHMCS and AIM-9X that you mentioned, other post-production upgrades comprise the AMPCD(an LCD based replacement for the MPCD), ATFLIR and OFP 13C(software upgrade) to name some.

Figuring out the "native" Lot 20 capabilities is a little more tricky, as these are an accumulation of upgrades performed throughout the production years - I have attached a summary of the F-18C evolution from Lot 12 to the last production config(Lot 21) .

Thanks, nice list.

Actually Swiss Air Force variant is not listed there.

We do have meanwhile AIM-9X in use and the cockpit of our F-18C/D does feature the SuperHornet interior. ;)

If this could be modelled, that would be awesome :)

Because Swiss version is different post production mod.

The list was focused on productions made for USA. Especially since ed has said the fa18 lot 20 will be based on a us navy hornet. Not a iMac one or any foreign service version even if they are including some skins of export users

Did they change the RWR as well (to AN/ALR-XY)? Because the RWR-Display is removed

I believe it was moved to the displays and HUD,

Like the Super Hornet, the Swiss Upgrade 25 Program added a New ALR-67v3 Among MANY other upgrades to their F/A-18s.

IT.. would be nice If ED Upgraded the Lot 20 to the C+ or their "version" if certain aspects of the C+ are unavailable or classified. maybe some sort of "Frankenhornet" mix of C+ and the Swiss Upgrade 25 Program. But I am excited either way to fly the Hornet. especially once the the Syria terrain is released.

The hornet we're getting is very nearly the best version of the legacy hornet you can get so I'd be happy with it.

The Swiss ones have a load of structural strengthening that adds weight too so I think this one should be the most potent fighter hornet there is.

ED is Modelling the USN Lot 20, Not an Export / Non-Domestic Version that was built in Switzerland

Ironically enough I believe it was the other way around originally. I remember seeing a Swiss placard with a Swiss model number in the early screenshots of the F/A-18 cockpit.

IIRC it was actually a Spanish placard, but same difference :) .

In fairness though, they(ED) have said all along that they were going to model a US version and kept saying not to pay attention to the cockpit details of early screenshots.

It was a Spanish placard, but that would have been a heavily modified A verison of the Hornet
