Steel Jaw
Thanks for the update, Wags. Delays happen, but it is mitigated by forthright information on progress. With DCSW2, the DCS Bug (hopefully) and the Cortex Rhino, 2015 should be very sweet for the community. Witchking
Direct X 11 support Dynamic shadowing of the terrain and mountains Improved weather Improved lighting Clipmap support for new maps Higher object counts Higher resolution ground terrain mesh and textures for new maps (between 1 and 64 meters per pixel depending on area of map and clipmap level) More detailed tree models with collision for new maps Better graphical effects High resolution road textures for new maps Ability for road signs and light signals for new maps Additional ground clutter (rocks, cactuses, etc.) for new maps Skeleton animation for infantry Better use of multiple GPUs (CPU multi-threading is not being pursued as it will provide little if any gain) Ability to create dedicated servers in the future Unified front end and simulation .exe Improved API sound support Improved Oculus Rift support The OP has changed. Now it say that trees will be collisionable. But keep in mind that is FOR NEW MAPS. I don't think the black sea area trees will be made collidable. Witchking
:book:They have mentioned about different cloud types, I am sure they will go into more detail when it gets closer to release. For sure. The clouds already look fantastic from the BK and Su videos. I hope they will also improve the rain/snow graphics to add a DIRT/snow/water layer on the ground/runways and add the "previously requested" :smartass: rooster tails of water/mud/snow when taxing. Imagine multiplayer skiing maps :p and drifting on the runway. lol..aircraft lining up to land in a drift. :p WHISPR | Intel I7 5930K | Nvidia GTX980 4GB GDDR5 | 16GB DDR4 | Intel 730 series 512GB SSD | Thrustmaster WARTHOG | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR4 pro | |A-10C|BS2 |CA|P-51 MUSTANG|UH-1H HUEY|MI-8 MTV2 |FC3|F5E|M2000C|AJS-37|FW190|BF 109K|Mig21|A-10:SSC,EWC|L-39|NEVADA|

CookPassBabtridge
Daft question, but will all the aircraft I bought for old DCS still work with DCS 2.0, just with more shininess? Those pics look sumptuous. Can't wait to fire up a Warthog in the DK2. Hopefully those performance improvements will mean finally being able to max out detail and get a 100% judder free flight :) Even in airports / over towns... Of course, CV1 will then come along and demand 90FPS, putting us back to square one :( [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I LIKE TO PLAY PRODIGAL WOMBAT STIMULATOR

blackbelter
I've been wondering this for quite some time... My GTX 680 OC delivers good performance even for the current ageing engine. Since EDGE will offer performance improvement, it will prove unnecessary to upgrade graphics card. True or false...

Since EDGE will offer performance improvement, it will prove unnecessary to upgrade graphics card. True or false... This may prove true with the same asset (I mean, old maps in the new engine) but with the new upcoming maps with a much improved ground mesh and texture detail, shader, clouds, trees collision and so on I bet some performance hit has to be expected. Buckeye
I'm building the rig in my sig specifically for the EDGE release (all hardware has been acquired, just have to put it together now). As such, I am very eager for EDGE to be released (who isn't?) but at the same time I am more than willing to be patient and wait for ED to decide it is ready for release...these types of updates make the waiting process much easier.
