Introducing the VPC MongoosT-50

I'm going to need replacement cams, what's the process for requesting them? Also, witht he alternate springs, I only got 1 of each (red and white), is that correct? Seems like they ought to come in pairs.

Should have been two of each. I would PM Cyph3r on that and your replacement cams.

Edit he beat me to it lol.

;)

I'd like to request if anyone wants to get a hold of me, to email me on the sale@virpil.com address though. It gets a bit difficult to keep up with all the PMs on the forums!

Anyone have any tips for calibration? I got my T50 yesterday and installed the two-dot cams, and softest springs, with a 50mm extention. My goal is to set it up for fast-jet control with a short control throw.

My first quick testing flights in the su-27 were really...off, the jet just wanted to pitch up completely, like the T50 was sending constant Y-axis spikes to it. Axis curve tuning showed it was fine though, but for the life of me I couldn't get it to fly straight.

Is DXtweak the preferred method of checking what the stick is sending out? Any help appreciated.

Are you sure you didn't introduce the "DCS is going to assign every axis to every USB-HID for the hell of it" bug?

Make sure you don't have a conflict with any other joystick/USB (like MFDs, etc.)

According to the shipment tracking, my order left Belarus on the 9th. That was the last update. Is that normal or cause to worry?

Sounds normal to me.

I have ordered a few things from russia, and the postal service isn't the fastest in the world, plus it's a pretty big country.

Since shipping prices are calculated only when you actually order things in the Virpil store, i'd like to ask here what shipping to Germany for the 10cm stick extension would be? From where would that be shipped to Germany in any case?

You can go on virpil.by and the shipping cost is calculated on the fly on the basket page after you type in your address!

Currently everything is shipped from the VPC HQ in Belarus.

Got mine today and it feels good but I can not see any difference between the 2 dot cams and the 4 dot cams. Which one is supposed to be the flat one? The one at the moment installed (could not see the dots) is curvy in the mittle an flat at the edge.

I have allready switched the black to the blue / white springs and it feels better now but the center still feels a bit to stiff.

First exploration of the T-50

I got my T-50 last week but could not use it since I had no way to mount it on my MonsterTech table mount. Finally I managed to make a mounting bracket myself and started to explore the axes and buttons. I found that the doc from VPC is not overly helpful. So, using just a picture from the VPC doc, I made a PDF document showing the grip with reference numbers, plus a table providing the button ID's plus names that I invented. I need these informations in order to document my input bindings for each aircraft. I attach the document.

Some inconsistencies in the VPC doc (numbers are references from the original VPC doc):

9: The lower 4-way switch is described as "Momentary 2-way switch, Optional 4-way hat. It is simply a momentary 4-way switch.

10: The POV switch is described as a 4-way hat although it has 8 switches.

12: Described as "lever axis and button", but only provides a switch. I could not see any axis signal from it when I tried to bind it to an axis.

Questions to Cyph3r:

1. I was relying on getting an axis from this lever. How to activate that function?

2. Please provide definition of the springs and cams in the little plastic bags!

3. I could not find any switch for JOY_BTN6. Isn't there any?

Hi LeCuvier!

I'm glad to hear you've got your hands on the on the MT-50 now!

The inconsistencies mentioned have since been updated as this was based on older plans for the MT-50 grip. Also I'm pretty sure all "POV" hats are 8-way, diagonals are achieved by a combo of 2 directions!

Regarding the button IDs, I posted a template for the button ID mappings a while ago. Button 6 is on the index finger switch on the side.

Regarding the brake lever axis, can you email support@virpil.com and we'll get this sorted out for you.

Cams:

  • 1 Dot = Hard Center
  • 2 Dot = Soft Center
  • 4 Dot = No Center

Springs:

  • White = Light
  • Blue = Medium
  • Red = Heavy

I hope this helps! Let me know if there's anything else I can help with

yes I see, in fact the index switch has a forward action; but the movement is tiny and you have to put your hand in a somewhat unnatural position to activate it. That's why I hadn't found it.

Regarding documentation, we shouldn't have to search for it in this thread. It should be available on a download page on VIRPIL's web site!

Thanks for your help!

Hey Cyph3r, which extension would you suggest to emulte stick-Mmovement in the SU-27 and the Mig-29?

Thanks in advance!

150mm-175mm would give you the most accurate replication of the flightstick stroke length found in the Su-27/MiG-29

Any chopper pilots out there got the base unit with soft centre cams?

Need to hear some feedback on spring tension around the centre position as well as ease of movement and wetness of movement, especially in comparison to the hawg base unit.

I read that there are some "rough" cams out there and this is ok initially but at the end of development we want highly polished, slicker than snot metal on metal contacts.

Reviews please chaps, do not worry about bad reviews, its good for you to talk and just let the pressure off, its good for me and it is definitely good for the manufacturer and their end product success.

HP G2 Reverb, Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate as standard. OpenXR user, Open XR tool kit disabled. Open XR was a massive upgrade for me.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), 0 X MSAA, 0 X SSAA. My real IPD is 64.5mm. Prescription VROptition lenses installed. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC at the mo. MT user  (2 - 5 fps gain). DCS run at 60Hz.

Vaicom user. Thrustmaster warthog user. MFG pedals with damper upgrade.... and what an upgrade! Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height with brail enhancements to ensure 100% button activation in VR.. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound.... you know when you are dropping into VRS with this bad boy.

The "rough" cams were a faulty batch from the factory, we're replacing these with newly revised polished cams

I'll leave other users to respond to your other points though as I'm sure my opinion on the matter would be biased! :pilotfly:
