gizmo
Hi All, I would like to inquire if I could remove all DCS beta (previous) and full installation and only reinstall the new 2.5 as a clean and new installation? What would your recommendations be. Your replies will be greatly appreciated. Thank you If you want Peace, be prepared to fight for it ! :pilotfly:
AMEDooley
Yes you can do that. I plan on doing that same thing once I get back home. But be aware it’ll take a long time to do it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

FragBum
You might also want to back up your Log Book and missions if that's important to you. Also might be a good idea to unregister your modules and maps before blowing away your old versions. I ended up with a fresh install of only 2.5 and haven't looked back. David OC
Why not transform any DCS version into the version you want? and delete any others. This way DCS will only download what it needs, it wont need to download NTTR or Normandy if you have these, they are quite large to download. I have never downloaded a full DCS since 2012 and across three PC's. I have copies of DCS on an external drive. Copy to new SSD drive, redo links (DCS BIN FOLDER), clean/repair and update to whatever version I choose. DCS is not tied into windows to run. DCS Updater to Update, Revert, Repair commands I use SkateZilla's GUI tool to repair and clean the install. . i7-7700K OC @ 5Ghz | ASUS IX Hero MB | ASUS GTX 1080 Ti STRIX | 32GB Corsair 3000Mhz | Corsair H100i V2 Radiator | Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 500G SSD | Samsung 850 EVO 500G SSD | Corsair HX850i Platinum 850W | Oculus Rift | ASUS PG278Q 27-inch, 2560 x 1440, G-SYNC, 144Hz, 1ms | VKB Gunfighter Pro Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Download PDF Tutorial guides to help get up to speed with aircraft quickly and also great for taking a good look at the aircraft available for DCS before purchasing. HiJack
There is absolutely no point in removing all and installing «clean».
Rudel_chw
.. Also might be a good idea to unregister your modules and maps before blowing away your old versions. Absolutely not necessary, you will lose one of your 10 activations if you do. The registration data is stored on windows registry's and will remain there even if you delete DCS’ folder. That's good to know thanks, although in my case a windows update essentially bricked my install. Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment. HiJack
That's good to know thanks, although in my case a windows update essentially bricked my install. Easy to fix. First run a "cleanup" and then run a "repair" and you have a complete cleaned installation.
