I was thinking about getting the huey but I wanna master this bird first. The heads up display +center seated, is better to orient with for me. And this thing turns on a dime. Can follow windy roads at high speeds. and brake 180 turns quick.

edit fixed. cant put freaking music in you tube vids.

Does anybody know if the illumination rockets currently work ?

They are parachute flares right ? Tried firing it up into the air and into the ground.... no joy on the lights.

Is there anything I missed ?

Maybe you mixed up smoke with illum rockets? :o)

Fire S-8OM into the air and they will activated after ... 6?...10? seconds - about 5-6? km ahead of you. They burn for, iirc, only 30 seconds, though.

Besides.. if these were smokes... I would have seen it as well. Dark or not.

The illumination rockets work just fine. I made a little tutorial video showing the various night flying features of the Ka-50 just now, the rockets are shown about halfway through.

Aim higher. You were pretty low and you fired them more or less horizontally - they probably went dumb into the ground.

I decided to record my first attempt in the Ka50, going in cold without having read or watched any instruction.
You can skip the last few minutes as that's just me trying to find out how to turn off the engines by looking over the cockpit with the mouse.
