FAQ

SRS/comms

BF uses SRS as its main comms. You can always find the latest version of SRS here: https://github.com/ciribob/DCS-SimpleRadioStandalone/releases/latest

This tour SRS is the same as the Persian Gulf SRS we normally use - srs1.flag.blue:5014

Alternatively, you can also just open your SRS client and connect to the DCS gameserver - the SRS autoconnect feature will make sure you're connected to the correct server.

Please note that using SRS (or other comms, such as Discord) is not an enforced requirement, but highly encouraged.

Check out SOP document for additional information such as standard radio procedures or frequencies.

SOP

The official Operation Blue Flag SOP (Standard Operating Procedures/BF manual) document can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/bf-sop-v2

This link will always hold the latest version of the SOP doc available and contain additional useful information such as coordinate lists or kneeboard images.

TacView

TacView files for the Persian Gulf server can be downloaded here: https://bit.ly/2T0AmiT

The file with the last timestamp available cannot be opened since it is still being written to by the server - you'll have to wait until the server restarts and creates a new file. Unfortunately, a server crash causes the TacView file for this session to become corrupted.

Discord Coalition HQ Channels

If you change your Discord nickname (right-click -> change nickname) to match your in-game name exactly, join the server and pick a side, you will automatically (after ~5min) be assigned the corresponding coalition role for the server in this Discord.

The coalition Discord roles provide you with access to your coalition's headquarter channels, which can be used for additional planning, coordination and discussion, as well as the respective voice channels in Discord.

BuddySpike team/staff

Our staff currently consists of three BuddySpike team members, @Xcom, @Ciribob and @MorpheusXAUT.

All staff are responsible for game server, mission and community/Discord management.

In addition to our admin team, we have a group of @Moderators - currently @=DFA=Cyri | Carbon 1-1 and @Hatefury - supporting us in managing this Discord server.

Side Switching

During the official tour in PG (September), we will accept side switch only by 2nd of September 18:00 Zulu.

After that time, we will no longer be accepting side switching unless it's a new player that just joined and entered his desired side wrongfully.

Notice - such cases will be checked and would require more time then usual.

how will the "winning coalition" of the tour be decided if both teams won an equal amount of rounds? Is the statistic counting "captured bases" for both teams? (That could be a way of determining)

Just to clarify, for new players:

"A-G - Kh-58Ux2 (A), RN-24, RN-28"

means:

- 2x Kh-58U per player are available (at advanced airbases)

- the RN-24 and RN-28 are banned bombs on BlueFlag.

How many pilots will win an ED module? It only says "best ..... pilots", missing a number.

"Best overall fighter / attacker / logistics pilots will win an ED module of their choice each (Excluding the F-16C Viper)."

Is there a deadline and/or limit of signup? Are squads able to signup as a whole or should be on individual level?

Forget joining as a squad once one side has 25 you need to join the other side, I know xcom is doing a squad one where you control a PAK something like that.

But then it doesn't make much sense to score if one (or a whole squad) changes side every day. I'd guess there should be some sort of a quota per side. Or whichever side you pick you stick to it till the end. Otherwise what happens if everyone joins one side only?

For a casual day-to-day flying that could be an option but my understanding is that for competitive event (as this one appears to be) there must be some sort of rules on that matter based not only on numbers.

Actually it's been there since the very first announcement, I must have been blind :)

What coxy means is that the server wlll often be too full to play. You can NOT switch sides during a round (which can take weeks at times), it wasnt possible in previous official rounds and is not now. You pick a side as an individual player, and then youre stuck on it for the rest of the round. I am not entirely sure if its allowed if the round ends before the event ends and the frontline is reset. You may be able to switch then.

So I guess we don't have to signup in advance, we just join side of preference and stick to it till it's over?

To all Firefox users:

Gadget won't auto-refresh on Firefox 68.0.2 (gadget implementation issue), I recommend using my greasemonkey-addon (free, MIT License) script (the "30" in the script equals 30 seconds, you can customize as you wish):

// ==UserScript==
// @name     refresh BlueFlag gadget
//
// @version  1
// @grant    none
//
// @include  http://gadget.buddyspike.net/
// @include  http://gadget.buddyspike.net/map/persiangulf
// @include  http://gadget.buddyspike.net/map/caucasus
// ==/UserScript==

setTimeout(function(){ location.reload(); }, 30*1000);

Download greasemonkey Addon here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/

And enjoy the tour! That the best communicating/teamplaying team may win!
