Well they are looking into ways of doing both iirc but cant guarantee anything.

Clipped arent as pretty I agree but the roll rate improvement is gonna be nice!

Yeah, I do hope they do both of them - or scrap the clipped wing and go for the full one :D

Can't say I'll buy the clipped wing version, but I definitely will buy the full wing one.

Clipped wings give a better Rolling rate! ok, fine. Any difference about the turning rate or lift/stall compared to the full wings.

I love the Spit! It will be my first WWII module!

If we cant do the option of either or it will be a clipped wing variant

I hope it will be the CW version. Thanks.

Yeah just to clarify in case my previous message wasnt totally clear.

What I meant was that if the option we have to do both variants doesnt work we will only make the clipped wing variant. Full tips will be the optional extra.

It would be a shame to go through all this work and model the Mk XIV but finally include only the CW version, especially since the adjustments for full wingtips should not require major reprogramming.

This does not pertain only to one warbird, it may have repercussions on others as well. For example there are CW variants on other models of the Spit that we 'll see in the future plus there are variants of german planes that have minimal differences.

I hope ED offers you with alternatives on this one.

Roger that. I`ll be interested in both versions, regardless which one we`ll get at the end. But CW has the edge over the full tips. Then there is also P-40 coming. What an exciting year!!!

The original intention for the Spitfire Xiv was only to make the clipped wing variant. There is the potential to do the wing tips as a payload option but we haven't looked into this seriously yet.

We will see how it goes during development, if it turns out that it is not as simple as we think and will require alot of work then we may not do it. This is a judgement call I will make when the time comes.

I do not anticipate any assistance from ed on this.

I hope you guys can get this to work because it could make the available variants of many WWII planes plausible if they share core components like frame, wings, engines, or cockpits with removable items. Planes like the Stuka D-5 would be a relatively easily switched to the G-2 with only modest changes to the flight model (removal of 20mm/addition of 37mm pods/armor? plus whatever instrument changes). I'd imagine the list would be pretty long with planes that just changed weapon loadout and armor like the FW190's (F/G version or planes like the Dora D-12 or D-13 but they had a different hood).

Just to be clear, this is no indication that we will use these kind of methods to allow different variants by way of selections like this.

This is not in our plans and is not something we are considering

Changes like you suggest for the d-5 to a g-2 would be by way of a separate module and not by a mission editor option.

Thanks for making it clear Pman.

I really hope that you guys find a way to implement it. If the toggle payload option doesn't work, i 'd rather have it as a separate module installed than not have it at all.

Maybe a commercial option would be to get any single version with X euros, and once someone bought it, get the other variant with +10 euros? Just a thought.

It would be something like that I would think.

If its a separate module then I would expect it to be separate purchase.

If we can not get the full tips to work we wouldnt release a full tip MkXIV as a separate module, purchasable or not. We wouldnt offer clipped and full winged versions of aircraft if a seperate module if the solution as it is simply not viable for us to do that economically. Not too mention that if that is required it would take more man hours to implement then its worth in my opinion

As an example we would not allow a payload or mission editor option to change a MkXIV into a Seafire even though they are reasonably close. That would be a separate module purchase required.

Just for to make us salivate a little more.

Thanks

Hiya, nothing I am ready to share yet I'm afraid :)

I'll share something in July, I'm holding Spitfire back for a reveal (hopefully!) At The Fighter Collections Flying Legends airshow at Duxford :)

All this talk of Seafires.... Better be practicing your landings, they are notoriously dangerous with their narrow landing gear.

Surely you'd want something with a wider undercarriage :P

Hello

Will the Spitfire XIV have the clipped C wing with the 2x20mm and 2x.303, or the clipped E wing with the 2x20mm and 2x.50?
