Heavily FPS Drop

Raviar

Recommended Posts

By running any mission created before the 2.6 I do have heavily FPS drop to 40-45 (Monitoring the FPS by LeftCtrl+Pause key), Even by running the default missions in the "Instant Action" such as F-16 Cold and Dark in Persian Gulf I have the same experience, same experience goes to all of the bought campaign.

If I try to create a missions in the Mission Editor the FPS goes back to the experience which I had before update (up to 85-90).

I did Run the Repair, Cleanup and Update. Turning off the MSAA did not help at all.

I am not sure is it a Bug or Something is wrong in my Machine!

You have turned on vsync. So your FPS are capped to the Hz your monitor does. If it cannot reach it, it drops to the half of it. I guess your monitor has 85 or 90 Hz. With the update your PC wasn´t able to reach this anymore, so the next step down is 45 FPS. Turn of vsync to see what you have without.

I'm only running on a GTX 1070 and have min 35-40fps even with clouds, smoke or many units in the mission.

What some guys and me have found, that the last NVIDIA driver (445.xx) caused a massiv periodic FPS drop due to a sawish GPU utilization.

Rollback to 442.xx returns the good old performance.

Have forwareded our findings to BigNewy.....

putting the game setting in LOW even didnt help, turning off all the AA didnt help too either. What I found is that Cloud cause the issue!

Ofcourse 20 FPS with my Rack doesnt make sense!

+1, I thought it was my thing, I play at 1920x1080 and when there are clouds the fps drop drastically, on the snowy stage when I do cool and dark with the f16 it drops to 30 fps and goes back up to 60 fps.

the sim works at 60 fps all the time, but it has momentary fps drops, it does not work badly, it is that at certain times and areas the fps drop dramatically,

Examples: When I rotate the camera inside the F16's cockpit, the fps drop and then rise again.

I do not know if it will be the module that is not yet optimized or is the simulator that still needs to optimize small aspects, I do not know ...

please ED team take note of this

I noticed heavy GPU throttling for no reason aswell with the 445.xx driver branch, rolling back to the 442.xx series solved it here too.

  • 3 weeks later...

I reduced the visibility range from Extreme to Ultra and then set it to High, set Heat-Blur to low, I do still have the problem! even making the smoke density to 0 Zero did not help!

Any Smoke, cloud or dust model cause the issue!

Hi

We have many FPS issues reported, it may not be you or your system so do not worry.

Some missions with lots of route finding for AI units are creating massive frame drops especially in MP

I would suggest waiting for future patches.

thanks

I used the latest 445.87 nvidia driver and I had huge FPS drops serveral places example: near to the Tanker. I belive the causer of slow down was any volumetric effect like smoke, dust and cloud. Then after I downgraded my nvidia driver back to 442.74 and now the FPS drops are disappeared.

Do you have wake turbulence activated ? If yes, it's "normal" that you loose fps in the vicinity of a tanker, specially if there is an escort or multiple fighters coming in for refueling. Lots of wakes and long-lasting effects to compute...
