The F-35B is a good equivalent to the F-14 of the 80´s , the girl is not difficult to improve (Jennifer Lawrence would be my choice), the same old Porsche 356 and a Racing Ducati this time.

What is going to be really hard is the Epic soundtrack and off course the Plot.

If they have to get all the ingredients in, they need :

The F-35B (Latest tech propaganda and will attract young veiwers)

The Girl (as I see it that is just easy, any is better than McGillis)

A positive take on the US Navy and US Military in general (Good worldwide propaganda and positive National Patriotic Feeling for the US and allies)

Pilots and Flying (Make being a Pilot and the love of Flying be Glorious again in this world full of Drones)

Threat (A believable threat would be Nuclear threat and terrorism) Iran, North Korea, Syria & Irak

Homeage to the F-14 (That would be very easy, simply get Maverick flying the F35B which he accidentally crashes in Iran, gets imprisoned and then steals an Updated Irani F-14 which luckily hasn't been painted so is bare Metal:D

During Filming she had a Bigger Ego than Tom Did...

Her performance was meh, Meg Ryan had like maybe 6 minutes of Screen Time and did a better job than Kelly.

after top gun she was attacked again in 2016.

The odds are very high that it will be terrible. A good sequel is a rare item.

I dont know, the original had a cheesy script, below average acting (some of those lines oh good) all good things in military aviation movies, what could get possibly worse in a sequel?? :D

the stubby is, and really most all combat aircraft are, far too compact looking to make good acting material. it looks cool and aggressive, but there's no majesty, no presence.

Sequels done so long after the original are usually terrible. I hope this won't become another Indy 4.

The "conflict" in Top Gun was more about Maverick fighting the specter of his father's death and how it drove his actions than it was a shooting war with Russia.

A smart writer would FFWD 20-30 years, and put Goose's son (all grown up and a mirror reflection of Maverick) in todays Navy competing for the Top Gun honors that his father died attempting to win. The age is about right for a "Top Gun" level front-line aviator.

Writing in a real battle for an ending climax may be too over the top and cliche for a sequel, but it isn't impossible/implausible to pull off a dogfight with North Korea, China, Russia, or a former Soviet client state with modern fighters in inventory.

Cruise/Kilmer/et.al. reprise their roles and show up in cameos along the way.

My only wish is for it have an original story. IHMO So many sequels these days are simply copies of the first movie with new characters and a different setting, but a very similar plot/progression.

Like Cameos and throwbacks are fine, but make a new movie. A completely new movie that stands on its own.

But TC has a big ego, his ego cashes cheques his body cant afford, I cant imagine him taking a side role although I think it would be very smart, something like that crappy F-16 movie where the guy from Officer and a Gentlemen helped that boy fly a Viper.
